So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am an 18-year educator that contemplated leaving the career early on to drive trucks for more income. Shortly afterward, I began teaching science exclusively and fell in love! This newfound passion led me to seek out professional development opportunities aimed at increasing my teacher efficacy in science. I would bring back new ideas and implement in my classroom, yielding overwhelmingly positive reactions from the students. I soon realized that many other students in various schools throughout the city were not receiving quality science education. A part of this stemmed from teacher’s reluctance to teach science. This revelation led me to start presenting my success stories from the classroom at local, state and national conferences. The response from teachers was just as encouraging as from the students’! My mind was made! I had to form Fun Weird Science in order to provide students with positive interactions in science early so that they could grow to be confident and competent.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to success is rough and bumpy! My biggest struggle has been the fact that I am building my business in the shadows of my fulltime job. Fun Weird Science and it’s programs have been sought after and highlighted locally, nationally and internationally. Lacking the time to focus solely on FWS translates to decreased client bookings and delayed business scaling.

Fun Weird Science is the programming brand for Georgia Science & Robotics Academy, Inc. (501c3). Our mission is to train K-12th-grade students to be proficient in each component of S.T.E.A.M. through innovative instruction that will produce creative-minded and critical thinking participants in the global marketplace. Our approach represents next-generation hands-on learning. Our practices, strategies and programs are built upon a foundation of identified best practices designed to improve student exposure and understanding of the S.T.E.A.M. disciplines. We offer summer/weekend camps, teacher training, online course, science kit shipment, birthday parties, interactive science shows, curriculum development and STEM-related print media. We specialize in student engagement. We are known for keeping large audiences engaged and providing engaging learning experiences. I am most proud of the fact that Fun Weird Science is recognized as a leader in STEM engagement and that our efforts have afforded the opportunity to work with communities abroad. My successful classroom experiences and ability to relate to all students and teachers set FWS apart from other companies.
