Meet Rose Cline of Poetic Imagery in Columbus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Cline.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rose. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At a young age and through all of high school, I have been home-schooled. When I was around the age of four, I was enrolled in a variety of different extracurricular activities, which to name a few, included: ballet, art classes, gymnastics, and piano lessons. Over the years, I would drop all but one of those activities. I continued to partake in art classes until I was about twelve or so. At around fourteen, I began to volunteer at a local museum. There I was exposed to an assortment of other forms of art, such as photography. A couple of years later, I was chosen to be one of the founding members of the Teen Advisory Group (T.A.G Team) at The Columbus Museum. Although I was exposed to photography a bit at the museum, that is not where my passion for it was truly ignited. Most of my exposure and love for it began when I received a camera on my seventh birthday from my parents. I was also heavily inspired by my mother’s shared passion for it as well and it is something that has stuck with me and continued to grow by my side as time has continued to pass us by.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Although I am still at the beginning of my journey, I have had to jump over many tough hurdles, some of which I am still trying to breakthrough. From the age of two up until now, I have struggled with Chronic Lyme Disease and was not completely diagnosed with it until I was fourteen. There are many difficulties that I must suffer through that affect me both mentally and physically when it comes to dealing with Lyme. For one, I am in a constant fight with myself to take the reigns that will allow me to heal so that I can live my life the way I desire to without the restraints that shackle me to my bed.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Poetic Imagery story. Tell us more about it.
Poetic Imagery is exactly as the name suggests, it is my obsession with taking images that display a poetic and new perspective that might not have been seen before. At this time, I do not like to limit myself to one specific area of photography, but I feel as though I am more well known for my nature shots. One of my favorite things about what I do is making the natural hidden beauty and mysticism of what I’m shooting come to life. I also really enjoy capturing candid shots of just about any living creature or being expressing some kind of emotion or deep thought. Most of the time I am my only muse, so I tend to take a lot of self-portraits when I don’t have anyone else available to model for me. In doing so, I have learned a lot about myself and the types of poses I prefer to express my creativity with. When it comes to editing my work it tends to vary in styles, but I always tend to stick to the more moody and/or grainy side of things. I have a deep love for both warm and cool tones and will apply them depending on what vibes I seek from each photograph. For most of my pictures, I already have in mind how I want each photo to look after editing it. Whilst other times, I just go with the ebb and flow to see what will happen.
