Today we’d like to introduce you to Roshanda E. Pratt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been fascinated with storytelling. My father’s mother was a masterful storyteller, the kind of storyteller that had you clinging to every word. In the fourth grade, my Trinidadian father would make me watch the news. He told me as an American citizen, it was my duty and responsibility to know what was happening in my country and community. That gesture of watching the evening news sparked a love of community and storytelling.
By the time I entered high school, I discovered what I wanted to do was called broadcast journalism. I went to college and majored in communications. I landed my first paid television job as a news producer in a top 30 market while still a senior at Winthrop University (Go, Eagles)!
After working in television for 20 years, I discovered a new way to tell stories through the power of live video. I left the newsroom and entered into full-time entrepreneurship teaching brands how to amplify their voice and monetize their story on-air and online.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth? The road has been rocky and sometimes lonely. One of the main struggles was finding the power in my own voice. I worked behind the scenes as a news producer, writing the news anchors would read on air. They would read my words, yet I had no value or trust in them.
I had to find my voice and learn to own my genius, even if it did not look like how I thought it would. I always knew I would be in the media, but I thought it would be in the news. Now, I have my own Facebook Live show and a growing audience that tunes in.
One of my favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson states, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I learned how to find joy in creating a trail that others could follow behind me.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with REP Network – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company REP Network, LLC is a multi-media company specializing in media training and video production. I am known most in the digital streets as The Rosho Live, storyteller, Livestream strategist and heart-felt producer. I have a live video show on Monday nights at 8:45 p.m. eastern standard time teaching and equipping people to find their voice, clarify their message to impact the world.
Stories give people permission. I take great pleasure in helping people discover their voice and own their genius. I am proud of the individuals, companies and brands who come to us to help them tell an authentic and compelling story. Stories matter. Your story matters and it needs to be told. Besides our skills in broadcast journalism, crisis communication, marketing, branding and video marketing, we have a keen sense of connecting the dots to create a powerful picture that influences and impacts audiences.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking forward to returning back to how I started in the storytelling space. I am looking forward to producing more stories and video content. We are looking forward to opening a studio space for more video production, training and equipping brands to tell better stories.
