Today we’d like to introduce you to Roslyn Ellerbee.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in a small town in North Carolina that was once known for being one of the lowest-paying counties in the WHOLE United States. As a single mother of one son, you had very few options to live a comfortable lifestyle. This time around, entrepreneurship wore the crown in my life.
After years in my business, I started to feel as if I’ve outgrown it, and I can’t grow anymore in my current city. My business was the only five-star Marketing Agency in Jacksonville, NC, and ranked number one on Google in my town as well. I didn’t’ only manage to turn my business into a successful one, but I was blessed enough to have overgrown it, so it was time for me to do something different.
I may be a small-town girl, but my dreams were BIGGER than my city could handle. I will never forget the day when it all became crystal clear to me – November 11, 2018.
Waking up, I just realized that in order to keep growing my Dream Team the way I envisioned it and turn it into a global Marketing Agency, I had to be willing to take higher risks. And the first risk I took was moving out of Jacksonville, NC, and taking a leap of faith, far away from everything and everyone I knew.
They say that success is on the other side of fear. It was time for a change. It was time to do something different in my marketing agency.
I decided to open an office in the Atlanta area, and, in addition to our local businesses, major brands, we would now offer services to the entertainment & film industry.
The main inspiration for choosing Atlanta as a new home for my company was the fact that its home of the Tyler Perry Studios, the largest major film production companies in the country. I watched Tyler Perry slowly build his empire from the bottom up, and I highly admire him for doing so. Without a doubt, Atlanta is the place of opportunity for minority business owners, especially women. So, here I am!
Sometimes, when my days get hard, I remember his story and struggles, which motivates me to keep pushing forward, knowing that I’m moving in the right direction and making the right choices.
Keep trusting God and let Him direct my steps. I thank God daily that I AM HERE, I AM ABLE, and I thank God He put November 11, 2018, on my heart to let me know that MY DREAM WAS TOO BIG FOR MY CITY and that if I jump out on faith, HE GOT ME.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was definitely not a smooth road. I wish I could say it was, but truth be told, if you want to be successful and have a successful business, you must to be willing to sacrifice some things in your life to wear the Entrepreneurship crown.
It’s okay to have struggles. That’s what makes us stronger in business! It’s okay to fail! Companies fail every day! The key is never to give up!
Over the years, I’ve realized that being an entrepreneur is similar to being in a marriage. Matter of fact, IT IS A MARRIAGE. Mine didn’t just happen to be a happy marriage – I WORKED HARD FOR IT, and I still do every day.
In the beginning, I struggled with not investing enough in myself and not investing enough back into my business to see a return. Now, making the investment in myself, and consistently gaining knowledge, investing in my health, well-being, and mindset is a non-negotiable for me.
Looking back to what I might have changed in the past, I now know to invest in me first, and my company second. Making the correct investments, like marketing, PR, new equipment, software, training, and investing in my team, will avoid many future struggles.

Out of all the people who influenced me the most and helped me become the woman entrepreneur I am today, my mother had a decisive role. She was a businesswoman herself, and she supported my visions since I was a teenager, regardless of the cost. She was my number one supporter! Although she is not here in the physical world with me any longer, her teachings, her wisdom, and her voice of encouragement are with me daily.
The second person I would like to mention is my son. I could not ask for a better child. He’s my only child, so he’s very special to me. He IS MY REASON WHY – the reason why I never thought about giving up, ever in life. Once I had Nathan, giving up or failing was no longer an option for me. If something didn’t work, I did something else. In life, I do what it takes!
Every day I push my limits even harder. Why? Because Nathan is watching, and trust me, he’s taking notes. And I want him to, because one day, I want him to step up and continue running this agency, THE LEGACY I’ve built for him and my grandchildren.
I’m very thankful for his support and encouragement. He makes me proud to be a mother. I am a proud Army mother, a proud grandmother, and a proud mother in law!
