Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Korman.
Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been stage managing and doing photography since I went to high school at North Springs in Sandy Springs. I moved to Los Angeles to get my BFA in stage management from CalArts, and stayed there working in theater, film, and fashion. I have been active in design and production for well over a decade, and have worked all over the world. I’m currently on a 6-month tour all over Europe and the UK, stage managing the arena show, Marvel Universe LIVE! Whenever I have free time in a city, I do as many photoshoots as I can. I want to be constantly growing as an artist, and as a person.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s not always been an easy path, but perseverance and a can-do attitude has been instrumental in the entertainment world. It can be difficult in this field by being both young and a woman, but it has made me stronger because of it.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to work more in film and television as an Assistant Director on much larger caliber projects, and perhaps continue touring with other large shows.
Let’s go backward a bit – can you tell us about the most trying time in your career?
Being a young woman in this industry is never easy, but it’s certainly made me a stronger person for it. Just because I am young, does not mean that I do not possess the necessary expertise. And just because I am not a male, does not mean that I lack the ability. I am a powerhouse and I believe I can do anything I put my mind to.
Do you ever feel like “Wow, I’ve arrived” or “I’ve made it” or do you feel like the bulk of the story is still unwritten?
I was sitting in the doctor’s office filling out paperwork, and I came to the job title section. I couldn’t believe that was my honest profession in that blank space.
