Meet Roz Turner

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Roz Turner . Roz was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Ty’Reanna Harris.

Hi Roz , we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a single boy mom. I am from Tuskegee, Alabama. I began my college journey at Tuskegee University and then joined the Air Force. I completed my undergrad degree while active duty. I moved to the Cobb County in December 2006 after separating from the Air Force. While active-duty Air Force I lived in San Antonio, TX, Osan AB, South Korea, Honolulu, HI, Spokane, Washington. Spokane is where my son was born, at that time I was married.

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I completed my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Alabama and my MDiv from Emory University, Candler School of Theology. I am a therapist for the department of juvenile justice and an associate minister for Turner Chapel AME in Marietta Georgia. I love working with youth especially those that have gotten in trouble with our justice system. I believe that this population of people for different reasons is the forgotten. How we treat our children says a lot about our society. No I don’t think that I can fix all of their problems, reality is that many will return to their same circles of dysfunction once released, but while I am with them my desire is to be light.

Ty’Reanna Harris has been a great friend to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Ty’Reanna and your experience with them.
I met Ty while we both were students at Emory University, Candler School of Theology. I knew that she started her photography business, and I needed a few head shots. I believe in supporting my friends before I call strangers. I love working with Ty because she captures my entire personality when taking my pictures. The time spent is an entire vibe and it makes it easy for me to become comfortable during the shoot. I usually can be awkward in a photo shoot, but Ty is able to bring my full self to life in a session and it shows in the pictures. The edits and the raw photos. There is one picture she took to highlight my shoes that is a favorite because it captures the smallest details. I love that she captures my natural grin every time.
