Meet Russell Squire of Riverdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Squire.

Hi Russell, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Oh man, it’s been a long journey to get here, and I’m still not finished yet. I’m 38, Christian, raised in a 2 parent home, by two God fearing parents. I’m the oldest of 9 kids. I’ve always been someone who loved to talk, share my experiences as well as learn other people’s experiences. Jewels4Krowns originally started out as Love Without Limits, and was supposed to be a homeless shelter for LGBTQ teenagers. I was writing down ideas then I realized that there was more to be done and I wanted to reach every community im connected to by sharing my life’s lessons in hopes that it’ll help someone as they navigate their own journeys. Navigating grief at 5 yrs old, growing up with my parents( they were young), understanding my sexuality, my relationship with God, all while learning to love myself

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not easy at all. I was my biggest struggle lol. I let pride get in the way of alot of great opportunities, and a lot of selfishness. I stayed having a pity party and making excuses for myself. I also didn’t feel I had a proper outlet, or anyone to show me how to achieve my dreams. It was always just people telling me what to do, which never aligned with with I wanted for me, it seemed to be about what they wanted for me. Being black, gay, overweight, and a Christian, I tend to fit in all these communities but they all had a reason to not like me for one of the other communities I was apart of. I spent so much time trying to fit inside a community and I’m now learning that I have built my own

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a customer service guru!!! Loving people and contributing to people having a great day or turning it around give me so much joy. At my job, I’m currently able to help people give their kids an awesome birthday party, and I’m able to work with some great teenagers that I pray will one day look back and say I was a great influence in their lives. I also do encouragement videos on TikTok and created YouTube Videos. What sets me apart is my transparency, and how I love people. You’d think with all I’ve been through I’d be full of hatred, bitterness, and resentment, and while all those would be warranted, I still love and care for people as if I’ve never cried a tear before or had my heart broken. My love is so strong and pure that you’d think I was naive, but in all actuality it’s just my light shining… I still believe in people and that they have a chance to be decent human beings, no matter what they have done. I say that because I’m not perfect, I’ve cried and I’ve made other people cry. I stand in my imperfections with an over abundance of accountability

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Knowing that I didn’t waste my talents, oil, and the call on my life. Being able to say I took my pain, applied pressure and turned it into a diamond so big that it’ll make the Queen of Englands jewels look like grain of salt. I’ll know it when I get on that plane to go to my first booking, for my first event as a motivational speaker as an events keynote speaker, that’s my ultimate goal, and that’s what success looks like to me
