Today we’d like to introduce you to Sage Hill.
Hi Sage, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got my start through everyday conversations with a cross-section of people from personal to professional relationships over the years. People have always come to me for advice and the advice that I gave was based on personal experience along with my background in psychology. The advice I would give was not only practical but effective. For years people would tell me that I should write a book and recently, my daughter suggested that I start a podcast to share my experiences. In thinking about it, I realized that there were (and are) a lot of podcasts out there talk about celebrity gossip, reality tv and those few who focus on the negative just to gain a following from the controversial things they say. However, there were very few, if any podcasts focused on issues that everyday women, primarily women of color are interested in; things that encourage self-introspection and growth from a positive perspective. I knew that these women have so much to contend with and navigate daily that there should be a voice of clarity that would lead them to wisdom and empowerment. This is how the Soulcial Sage was formed. Giving voice to the issues that resonate within us, within our souls and to help rewrite narratives about women of color, removing the negative images and stereotypes and replacing them with the truth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle is getting past all of the other noise out there so that people can hear my message. Marketing is challenging at times but I realize that everything happens in time and on time. I have established my brand and my brand identity now, it is a matter of getting out there and being noticed. I have reached some milestones via some social media platforms and yet I still have a way to go on others. Ultimately, I understand that having a successful business of any kind takes time and it’s that time that creates sustainability.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Aside from my podcast where I talk about everything from toxic relationships to how to manage your career and put your resume at the top of any recruiters list, I offer life coaching services. I help people, women primarily, navigate careers, work-life balance, family/relationship dynamics and even issues stemming from trauma:
I specialize in helping women solve problems but I also allow my clients the ability to learn how to solve their own through a process that I created that helps to identify patterns. It is called life mapping. I am known for creating impactful and sustainable solutions to problems.
I am most proud of all of the obstacles in life that I have overcome and for realizing that those obstacles were actually an obstacle course that was preparing me for where I am right now.
What sets me apart from others is how deeply I think and how my mind is able to see solutions in the midst of what seems to be a solution-less situation.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to keep striving and evolving. I’m looking forward to the release of my book early next year and, as far as big changes, I am expecting to be offered a radio and television show in the near future!
