Today we’d like to introduce you to Sahand K. Vaghei.
Sahand, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have no formal training but have the pleasure of learning by doing as much art as I can making mistakes and loving every moment! I owe a great deal to the patience of all the mentors I’ve had thru life as I chose to think of nothing but art it’s safe to say they noticed this fury of passionate painting and lent me and ear and their O’ so critiquing eyes. And 5 years later I’m at this point and feel like it was just yesterday…
I love to paint outside and I love getting lost in my music working until sunset. If I’m motivated enough, usually in NYC, then I’ll throw myself at nocturnal painting!
Has it been a smooth road?
Always obstacles and challenges but art has been my outlet for most of my woes! It is convenient that I love what I’m doing and it feels like using art as my crutch has and will continue to save my life. In that producing art keeps me patient, open or hungry rather for more knowledge more understanding and if nothing else more expression! I’d say the only obstacles I face are the ones that I make for myself so I live a way of life solely around family, friends and art and I’d be lying if I said “in no particular order” 🙂
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sahand V. Art story. Tell us more about the business.
I have the amazing support of my mother and she’s the boss of the family business so I am working on my art all the time. I am traveling the country staying with friends painting their cities and towns. I’ve even managed to take my art and all the dam gear out to Europe twice now! But I’m extremely grateful for my connections all across the world providing me the energy and support one could dream for.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I will hopefully be producing art full time globetrotting and still doing what I love. Living, thriving and supporting not just in me personally but my family which I owe everything to! Hopefully I’ll have one foot in Europe and the other back at home but for I’m just focusing on the privilege of now.
