Meet Sakeena Clark of Cherished Hair in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sakeena Clark.

Sakeena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my career at Aveda Institute of Atlanta in 2009. I graduated in 2010. My passion cosmetology has always been with me and was a bit suppressed because I was focused on going to college to be a teacher. It didn’t work out to well for me so I vowed to follow my passion if cosmetology. Aveda was a really good fit for me and I was able to really develop as a blowout & color specialist. I also developed a passion for makeup. Ever since I have entered the industry it has been a lot of hard work and some days challenging but it is very rewarding and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth road. Anything worth having does not come easy. This industry is changing every day, and is also full of competition. But I continue to invest in my education as well as continue to build relationships and stay positive.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is called Cherished Hair” and it functions out of Spice Salon Atl in East Atlanta. I am most known for my Blowouts/Silk Pressing & Color. I am most proud of my brand and f course. What I do differently is that I aim to make healthy hair a lifestyle for women. I take pride in creating a healthy balance for their hair as well as their beauty. When they leave from the salon I know that each woman is confident in the way her hair looks and how she feels. That is what matters to me the most.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do feel that Atlanta is a good place for salon businesses. East Atlanta is a melting pot of many different cultures and lifestyles. For someone starting a salon business here they should definitely do there research because location is everything.
