Meet Salar Sayari of BCM London in Alpharetta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Salar Sayari.

Salar, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Iran and came to the United States as refugees in January of 2001 at the age of 14, where we had to build our lives from nothing. We came to the United States to pursue the American Dream and build a life that we would’ve never been able to build if we still lived in Iran. My father established the company back in 2007 where we started as a mid-luxury home builder but unfortunately, we were hit hard by the recession and we had to foreclose on all of the four homes that we had just built. At that time, I was forced to leave our company in order to be able to make a living and I pursued a career in retail where in the span of 8 years I worked my way from a stock associate to a store manager. Back in early 2015, my father and I decided to give it another shot, but this time we stayed away from debt and focused on the renovation side of the business. Since then, our business has exploded. The company went from making nearly $200k to close to $2 million in a span of a year and a half.

I believe that everything happens for a reason and you can only connect the dots looking back. You have to work hard and give it your all and believe that the hard work will pay off. My family was devastated when they almost lost everything through bankruptcy. I had to leave our company and start a new career in retail. I didn’t like it and didn’t understand it but I had no choice. I did it for 8 years and I tried to be the best that I could be every single day. I learned the 2 most important lesson in business during those 8 years, serving people and how to sell genuinely. I would’ve missed this great learning opportunity if I would’ve never been forced to leave our company and start to work in retail. Serving people has been the key to our success. Since I came back to our company 2 years ago as the CEO, serving people has been the focus of our company and everything that we do is geared towards how to be a great servant.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning a business, a successful and profitable business is very challenging. I believe the early years are the most challenging years because we are trying to establish our name and reputation. The foundation of our business must be solid in order to be able to last and have a generational impact. These past 2 years have been the most challenging but yet the most rewarding time of my life. I never thought of myself as an entrepreneur or a business owner, but I have always been extremely competitive and wanted to serve people. I get the most satisfaction in serving people. When the opportunity presented itself for me to be a part of a business where we can build our own world and serve our clients and like they’ve never been served before and compete on a daily basis I had to jump all over it.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our company handles total home renovation. We specialize in finishing basements, renovating and building custom built bathrooms and kitchen, and building additions. We are most proud of the unparalleled service that we provide for our customer. I can honestly guarantee that we are amongst the best if not the best in serving our clients within the construction industry in the State of Georgia. We truly go above and beyond and bend backward for our clients to ensure that they are happy and are pleased with their renovation experience. It’s personal to us. We treat their homes as if it is our own.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up it was challenging with a lot of uncertainties. After we left Iran when I was 10 years old, I continuously had to overcome the challenge of change. Nothing was certain. We lived in 6 different countries in a matter of 4 years on our way to the United States. Every country presented its own challenges (different language, culture, etc.). I practically didn’t even experience middle school at all. When we got to the United States at least we knew that we had crossed the finished line and reached our destination, but now it was time to learn how to live in America, learn the language, understand the culture, and how to fit socially…It has been challenging but wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the world.

Every word spoken by Salar Sayari is true. He and his father and crew spent close to 9 months from bid to completion, renovating several major areas of my home, and finishing an essentially bare basement to a thing of beauty. I highly recommend BCM London.
