Sam, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Sam Sutchaleo. I am managing Thai One On Anniston almost 6 years now. I am originally from Thailand. I came to the USA since I was 13 Years old. I grow up in Indianapolis. I was starting working for the USA today for a few years and move to work in the restaurant industry. I was working for O’Charley from beginning level until becoming management level. Because I love to cook, I was keeping to telling myself that I can do it “I can have my own restaurant” I opened the first Thai Restaurant in Indiana on 2002 named “Thai One On”. The restaurant run very good.
Two years later I opened another Thai Restaurant. Unfortunately the economy crisis in 2008, my business got the domino effect from the crisis. I had to close both restaurants in Indiana. However, my dream is still in my head and my destiny brought me to Anniston Alabama. In the year 2012, I continued my dream again by opening Thai Restaurant in downtown Anniston with the same name “Thai One On”.
Has it been a smooth road?
Everything takes time. Running any businesses also take time as well. From 2012 until now, it is almost 6 years. Customers know a lot about us. Thai Food is popular by its name. However, I need to create a connection with the community, promote the restaurant to the community as well. We are continuous improvement our restaurant in every part, food, service, promotion.
We update and change menu every year. We brought new technology to support our service and operation. We provide online order and delivery. Sometimes it was hard when we could not find the manpower when the business is growing. However, I love to train people. I believe in people.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Thai One On Anniston – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are Thai restaurant serve Authentic Thai Food. We love to serve fresh and healthy food to our customer. We adept Thai Food to fit with local people taste. We emphasize for food quality and presentation. Food must have taste good and look good too. All the chef have been trained to absorb this concept. We brought some popular Thai, Vietnamese, Asian items into our menu. Last year we added papaya salad and Pho, Vietnamese noodles soup. These two menu items hard to find. We have Thai Chef and local Chef so we can blend it together with the proper portion.
We use Facebook to do our online marketing to promote our ongoing event and promotion. We provide an online order for carryout and delivery so we increase a channel for the customer to order our food.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We are only one Thai Restaurant in Anniston and surround area. People are very nice and very welcome us to have business here. People love to try a new thing. They are all nice and warm.
