Today we’d like to introduce you to Sameria Abashe.
Sameria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Solace during the peak of the pandemic. I noticed from social media; people were shopping more than ever while quarantining with their loved ones. I was curious as to why that was happening. After talking to a few people, I realized that people are shopping because they are trying to find comfort in mixed all the uncertainty around them (hence the name Solace). So I decided to take advantage of this to reach out to women around the world. I have always love bags and purses since I was younger. I grew watching women cherishing their bags, making sure they never set their bags on the floor and having many different handbags to match all their outfits.
Outside of my love for bags, I have a passion for people, mental health, and our environment. I am always thinking of a way to connect with people positively. So I decided to combine my love for handbags and my passion for connecting with people. After doing countless research, I found a way to sell vegan handbags, and along with the hang bags, I decided to incorporate positive quotes within each purse. Some of the quotes are original, and some are from other writers and speakers. My goal is that everybody that comes in position with a SoLaCë Bag will be touched by the quote and find peace In their life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting has not been a smooth road for me. The hardest part for me was just getting started. In the beginning, I overlooked the amount of work and dedication it would take to get every up and running. Bringing the vision I had for SoLaCë to life was one of the few challenges I faced. I’m a perfectionist in everything to do. So I find it challenging to let go of things I create. With the support of my fiance and friends, I was able to introduce the world to my passion, which has turned into this beautiful business I have now.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with SoLaCë – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
SoLaCë is a vegan handbag company that uses fashion handbags has a way to spare love and positivity. SoLaCë is known as the “bag company that carries No Baggage.” The goal of SoLaCë is to provide affordable fashion handbags while connecting with people. I created SoLaCë not just has a business but has a personal journey. I am proud that my company has raised many conversations about self-care and mental health in many different rooms. When people carry a SoLaCë bag, I want it to be a constant reminder to take care of themselves and their mental well being at all times.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I definitely have big plans for SoLaCë. My goal is to open a physical store here in Atlanta, where I can interact with my customers face to face. For now, SoLaCë can be seen at local pop up shop in the city. My biggest hope for SoLaCë in the future is to use our proceeds to start a nonprofit that helps sexual assault victims in the metro Atlanta area.
