Meet Sandra Spoon of Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Spoon.

Sandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started with Atkins Park in 1985. Worked my way through all positions and became a partner in 1994.

I currently oversee all operations of the 3 restaurants in my group.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My 32 history with this company and seen many ups and downs. I’ve opened and closed a few locations due to changing economic conditions. I’ve learned a lot of great lessons over the years about operations, employee management, and community involvement. My 3 current locations operate on a good foundation and have thus been successful for 35 years Atkins Park – Virginia Highland. 14 years – Atkins Park Smyrna and 7 years – Ormbsy’s.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar – Atlanta/Smyrna Ormsby’s – Atlanta – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I own and operate 3 neighborhood restaurant/bars. All locations source as seasonally and locally as possible.

We are known for being very involved with our communities in which we operate. Our places feel comfortable and casual. I’m very proud of the fact that we have been around for a long time through all the ups and downs of this business. We take pride in our relationship with our employees.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No big changes for the current locations but always interested in seeing where we may expand the group.
