Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Asher.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
After diagnosed with cancer in 2012, I had a sense of urgency to not just be a survivor but to live my best life. I found what makes me the happiest is to smile and spread love to others. I partnered with my dear friend, Simona Spagnoli, to create messages on t-shirts that spread love. Wearing our shirts is likened to putting on a superhero cape! They are powerful.
Please tell us about your art.
Our company, Sun in My Soul, is a joy-inspired t-shirt company. My partner and I thought we could spread love, one t-shirt at a time with positive messages on our shirts which come from personal experiences. When I share my story of being unlimited, which inspired our graphic design – #beunlimited, people want to have that same sensation. The idea behind the words are that not only do we need to think of ourselves as unlimited, we need to allow those around us to be unlimited as well. This makes all the difference in relationships not only with others but with ourselves.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I have had several people – some of who I know, and some who I don’t know tell me how much my story, attitude, and shirts give them the confidence and support that they need. There is such a desire for love, and my mission is to help people love themselves – so then they can give and receive love! Hence – the name of our company… Sun in My Soul. When you have sun in your own soul, you can shine bright to the rest of the world. This is success.
