Meet Sarah Pennington of Flawless Lashes in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Pennington.

Sarah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my lash career in 2008 taking a training course, back when eyelash extensions were quite new. At this time, there were very few eyelash artists in Atlanta. The process of applying eyelash extensions is very tedious, it is done under magnification, actually isolating each natural eyelash hair to attach an extension to. I spent endless hours online researching and communicating with other lash stylists across the world comparing notes and learning anything and everything about the procedure. I also practiced and practiced for several months in order to really try to perfect the craft. Beginning with just a few clients in my home at the time, I slowly grew to rent a small room at a spa, then going on to rent my own small space. During this time my clientele was growing quite rapidly, and I needed help! So I recruited a former coworker and trained her from the very beginning on how to do this meticulous service. From this point, she and I were in a tiny space together and booked all the time. It was such a fun period of my business, even though it had challenges, it was such a wonderful growing time in that small space together. Eventually, the time came to move up to larger space, which became where Flawless Lashes is today. We now have 6 stylists, including my very first stylist I hired, and we all love working together as a team to create beauty for our clients’ eyes every single day.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Things have been a relatively smooth road for Flawless Lashes. I really took my time to expand, and never pushed for anything I was not ready to commit to 100%. As a business owner, the main struggles are always finding work and life balance. But I have lived, loved, ate, slept eyelashes since the day I discovered this rewarding procedure. When you truly love your craft, it becomes your life!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Flawless Lashes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Flawless Lashes was founded with several simple, yet seemingly elusive concepts in mind. Our main focus is not just applying eyelash extensions, but the care of our client’s natural lashes and eyes. It isn’t about just putting on eyelashes, for us, it’s about maintaining the highest possible standards in every way from how we treat our clients, to how we apply their lashes. With a client’s first appointment we have a full consultation to assess their eye and face shape, along with natural eyelash health, length, and density. We try to match the vision in our client’s mind of their beautiful lashes with what their natural lashes can safely wear long term.

Once the client’s lashes have been assessed, the client lays comfortably on a massage bed with optional heat and blanket. Soothing pads are applied to the lower eyelashes to obscure them from being extended, and we begin isolating each natural eyelash and applying the extension right near the root of the eyelash hair, without touching the skin. We work in millimeters, and will generally mix 5 lengths along the lash line for an elegant, yet natural enhancement. With 6 levels of curl options, multiple lengths, and diameters, the possibilities to customize Flawless Lashes are nearly endless. The process is completely painless, the client’s eyes are closed and most relax and sleep.

For us, it’s about maintaining the health of our client’s lashes and eyes as our number one priority married with giving them the lashes of their dreams. As clients continue to maintain their extensions, the health of their natural lashes is always on our radar and assessed at each appointment.

Not only is Flawless Lashes known as the first and original lash-only studio in Atlanta, we are also on the latest cutting edge with product and technique. We are the very first studio in all of the United States trained in the Russian Volume technique in May of 2013. This technique involves handcrafting small fibers of extremely fine, delicate lashes into a tiny fan and placing it precisely on each natural eyelash hair. Additionally we have since flown in educators, and personally attended trainings, seminars, and trade shows globally to always stay up to date on the absolute best for this ever growing industry. It really is amazing how detailed and exciting the world of eyelash extensions can be, and we all truly have a passion for it.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans for Flawless Lashes include continuing to offer this transformative treatment for our devoted clientele, along with always staying on top of the endless opportunities to improve our skills and service.
