Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Puett.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been a lover of all things food and drink and when I moved to Atlanta 4 years ago, I was more than excited to explore the food scene! I knew that Atlanta’s melting pot of cultures would mean a city in which foodie experiences abound! What started out as a past-time of trying Atlanta restaurants and taking pictures of the things I ate, Eventually became much more than that and I found myself spending most of my free time tasting, smelling, experiencing and photographing all of it! That’s when I decided it was time to find a platform I could utilize to share my foodie experiences with my fellow Atliens, visitors of our beautiful city and with my friends who were tired of seeing me flood their social media feeds with nothing but food on my personal accounts! 😉 I created an Instagram page and called it: “Atlanta Best Bites” – I said would inform my followers of what I call some of the “best bites” in Atlanta! Since then, I have had a blast exploring the local food scene more than I ever have, sharing my personal positive experiences and making friends with some of the most amazing Atl foodies anyone could have the pleasure of meeting – food bloggers, social media influences, photographers and just good people who share my love for food! The connections that I’ve made with several of my favorite local restaurants, coffee shops and more are priceless. There’s nothing better than sharing your passion with your people in the city you call home – and I can’t wait to continue doing so and see how ABB grows!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would be lying if I said I haven’t faced any challenging situations, learning curves or self-doubt along the way, even in something like this, which is currently just a side-hustle! In anything we do, even in those things that we are passionate about, there will always be obstacles, doubt, mistakes made and learning curves. However, that is what makes the journey beautiful! 🙂 I continue to learn every day and I embrace the fact that there is much I still don’t know. I make the most of every opportunity I get to learn from my fellow foodies and they are always there challenging me and teaching me! The greatest struggle I faced at first was the fear of “putting myself out there” – giving people a face, name and personality to connect to the food. Once I stopped doubting myself and decided to show people who the person behind the scenes was, I was so happy I did. I find so much happiness in being my silly, crazy self while stuffing my face on camera! Haha!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Atlanta Best Bites – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
With Atlanta Best Bites (which consists of me, myself and I), I share my positive food and drink experiences from local Atlanta restaurants, coffee shops, cafes, bars and more. I post photos and videos, as well as interactive real-time experiences, of the food and drink I love and of things like restaurant grand openings or special events. I love engaging with my followers through video, in addition to photos and tend to go into detailed stories on Instagram expressing my excitement about new-found favorite spots, delicious bites I try or to seek their opinions. I love asking Atliens what type of information they want to receive from me or what value I can provide for them via Atlanta Best Bites. I’m not only on a mission to find the best food in our city, but to also brighten people’s days in any way I can, let them know about special offers, coupons or discounts at local spots and encourage them to support their local businesses.
I am also an active Yelp Elite and a DiningOut Atlanta ambassador – I have so much fun being involved in both of these awesome organizations! It’s so cool being able to get the scoop on the newest local businesses, meeting the owners/workers and sharing with my followers so they can get a glimpse of what each place has to offer. What sets Atlanta Best Bites apart from other food blogs is that it has my silly self-running it! 🙂 I’m never afraid to put myself out there and be raw and real. I take massive bites on camera, I make a fool of myself in public so I can talk to my followers on Instastories and I try to show people that I really do care about informing them and helping them.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I can’t wait to launch a website and true online blog in the near future for Atlanta Best Bites! I want to offer via my website a guidebook in a sense that my followers can reference whenever they are looking for a particular type of restaurant, a certain type of food to eat or a specific atmosphere when dining out in Atlanta.
I plan to continue being active in trying out new places. Atlanta’s restaurant scene is constantly growing, and people want to see what the new spots are like if they are worth the hype, and what the tastiest bites are to order there. At the same time, I plan to make an even greater effort to find the best hole-in-the-wall spots throughout the city. Atlanta is full of so many amazing restaurants and food stalls that are “underrated” and not talked about much on popular social media. It makes me so happy to give some online presence to places like these, influence people to go give them a try and inform our community about more food representative of various cultures.
