Meet Sarah Tourville of Media Frenzy Global

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Tourville.

Sarah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved from London to Atlanta in 2013 and started the business single-handedly in Atlanta. With no prior business relationships in North America, I chose to start the company at my home office in Milton, Georgia where I shared a desk with the company’s first employee. Just six months later, the company expanded and took residence in a Regus facility in Alpharetta. Recognizing the importance of connections to help drive new business growth, I helped found the Greater Alpharetta Technology Network (GATN) to meet like-minded technology professionals in the area.

With 600 technology companies in Alpharetta and a now a new tech networking group to help foster relationships, this became a very successful and effective strategy. Many new tech clients were won, and Media Frenzy Global continued to grow. In 2015, I moved the firm into 3,000 sq. of private office space and firmly positioned ourselves as the agency that helps technology companies create a media frenzy. I then went on to win the 2015 TAG Marketing Executive of the Year award, and the agency won 2016 Best Integrated Marketing Campaign of the Year. I became Secretary and Board Member of the Greater Alpharetta Tech Network and served as a volunteer at the United Way.

I have been adamant from the beginning that significant growth only happens when you focus your offering on one particular market and not try to be everything to everyone.

Due to my past career at tech company Motorola, I chose to specialize 100% of the firm’s offering on serving tech companies. Technology businesses need an agency that understands its acronyms and tech jargon, as well as its rapid rate of change and innovation. Media Frenzy Global has writers, designers, media relations specialists, ex-journalists, and analysts who have spent time in both the corporate and agency side helping tech companies creatively capture media attention, build brand visibility and be a thought leader. Many of the agency’s clients have been with us since inception and continue to increase their services – a testament to the team’s abilities and client results.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When you don’t know anyone and you don’t hold any prior business relationships in the area (or country in fact), setting up Media Frenzy Global initially did prove challenging.

I had to quickly select people that could help get the business off the ground, ranging from CPA’s and tax advisers, to insurance and financial advisers and that was before I even got to recruitment.

I made some mistakes by empowering and trusting vendors too quickly and I have since learnt to do my due diligence before hiring anyone.

Media Frenzy Global – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our vision is to be the most creative, inspiring and progressive communications agency that wows brands by getting them global media attention and brand visibility. We stir up the media, inspire the industry analysts and get customers talking about innovative technology stories they haven’t ever imagined.

Our competitive advantage is that we understand the challenges technology companies face having worked in-house at Motorola, Sprint and with Microsoft Expedia and helping more than 60 technology companies across multiple markets build their brand visibility and increase their market share. We have been in our customer’s shoes and know how to get the results they are looking for.

I am proud of our team. They wow our customers with creativity and results. They have successfully built open and collaborative relationships with customers, partners and influencers.

They each have an entrepreneurial spirit and go beyond a 9-5pm mentality.  Many of them pursue knowledge and growth beyond the office, registering themselves in coding, writing, SEO courses after work. They take risks and they work hard and play hard. Our team scuba dives, skydives, rides horse, plays soccer and tennis (very well!), runs marathons and then brings energy, commitment and dedication to work. Its impressive.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Summer days in England are rare, so when we had a British heat wave in 1976 and it fell on my birthday, I had the best day! We turned the sprinkler on in the garden and my friends and I spent all afternoon cartwheeling over it. It was a happy and carefree day – in the sun.
