Meet Savannah Samples of Angel Assistance in East Lake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Samples.

Savannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In my earlier years of college, I began nannying for some extra cash. I have always loved being around kids, so this job came pretty natural to me! After a while nannying, I threw in a personal assistant job with an entrepreneur and mom, helping in any way from watching her baby to grocery shopping, even washing her car at times. From nannying and assisting, I started getting referred to their friends and family, and I built myself up to seven days a week, 60+ hours working and going to school full time. The mother I was assisting started two companies on her own and brought up the idea to me of starting a company. At that moment, my love for entrepreneurship was rooted, and it was uphill from there. Several families have a nanny and other help around the house, but most cannot find someone that covers more than one job description. Angel Assistance began with a passion for helping moms, and grew into something I didn’t even believe I could achieve! I have to say, starting a business in college is not the ideal route for most. Most people thought I was crazy, and I had (and still have) many obstacles to overcome. However, the journey of entrepreneurship and the love for what I do are two of the most rewarding aspects of my life.

I couldn’t have started this journey without my mentor mom, Amber. I will be forever grateful for her belief in a twenty-something, broke college kid to a now business woman. I will always cherish your push for me to become something I didn’t even know was within my reach. Thank you for believing in me before I even believed in myself.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
H-e-double hockey sticks-no! One of my biggest things was possessing the basic knowledge of starting a business and everything it takes to even get it off the ground. I did not come from an entrepreneurial background, so everything from government paperwork to planning had to be learned. I still cross my fingers today and pray my hardest prayers that I have everything submitted or didn’t forget to answer an email. My brain is constantly turning and the list of things to do as an entrepreneur never really goes away. However, you learn to credit yourself- deadline after deadline, interview after interview.

Another obstacle I had to overcome, was believing in myself when people told me I wouldn’t make it. Several of my closest friends and family giggled at the idea of owning my own company. I had to retrain my thoughts to not focus on what others were saying, but on how I felt about myself and this journey.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Angel Assistance – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Times have changed and the stay-at-home mom is now working full time and still coming home to a list of things to do, creating unease in the home. A mother is the biggest job on the planet, and adding in another occupation on top of that can get out of hand- real quick! So, we began by assisting moms and now help clients as small as individuals and as big as families of six or more!

What I am most proud of is our intimate, safe service. The biggest concern with our families is security, as it should be. Hiring a stranger to come into your home and be around your family can be very stressful and time consuming. We try our best to help ease this process by doing the hard work for you: background checks, screening, interviews, thorough training and personality matching. Our families need to feel comfortable at all times with their Angel. Even after that process, we do initial interviews with the founder, me and their potential Angel. Some personalities mesh more than others, so we strive to make this a main focus as well.

What we hear most from our families that sets us apart is our genuine and efficient service. Most of our clients are amazed by how much we get done in the little time we visit. Also, we become a true part of the family. We have had several families tell us they don’t remember how life worked before joining Angel Assistance and we seriously helped their lives with reducing chaos and bringing peace into the home. It makes me smile every time we hear it!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For the future, we are hoping to expand to further parts of the state and even beyond. Something we have been working on is a non-profit entity to help assist families that don’t have the financial means for services. We hope that this can help us touch even more lives and create a community of loving care for all families. There are even bigger dreams in the books, so there is no telling what the future holds!
