Meet Scott Saffran of The Garage Dude in East Cobb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Saffran.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was in corporate America looking for a new opportunity. My garage had become a huge mess over the years and I felt it was time to do something about it. I decluttered, organized and redid my garage myself. A number of friends came by and were very impressed and asked if I could do their garages. I looked on-line and there was no one that offered these garage organizing services, utilizing my background as a Mechanical Engineer, MBA, Risk Management and Professional Organizer, I decided to start my own company,

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the beginning the biggest challenge I had was getting “My Name” out there, so people knew this service was available. Through the use of social media and referrals, I have been able to build my business.

Please tell us about The Garage Dude.
I offer three distinct services; 1. Decluttering and organizing, 2. Design and Install storage solutions and 3. Garage flooring.

Over the years, I have expanded to include basements, attics, workshops and I even work in commercial settings.

I am the only company that offers all of these services, so my clients don’t need to utilize multiple companies to “redo” their garage.

I take a lot of pride in my work and ensure a high level of communication with my clients throughout the process to ensure every job is done to exact specifications.

The glowing on line reviews I receive from my clients substantiate the excellent work I do.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
After being in business for almost 7 years, I have learned a lot about my client’s needs and how to guide them through the process. In the beginning, I didn’t know what to expect and every client was a different situation. Now, I can “group” my clients based on their needs and clearly communicate how I can help them and how I can make this a seamless/painless process.

This type of knowledge only comes from interacting with many clients and creating clear target audiences. If I had to do it all over again, this information would have allowed me to have more of a “rifle” approach vs. a “shotgun” approach.
