Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian, Gabriel, and Zach Greco.
Sebastian, Gabriel, and Zach, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We grew up in a house that always had music playing; all 3 Greco members are brothers. Sebastian is the frontman, Zach is the musician, & Gab is the drummer. Our parents couldn’t play a lick or sing a tune, but they ingrained music into our souls.
We play music to create the feelings we’ve had from our lives. Music that makes you want to dance and sing, and grab someone around the waist until you can’t stay on your feet. We want to make music like our heroes, and be there for the special parts of people’s lives.
We built the band a member at a time, as each brother got old enough he got pulled into the band and sneaked into the clubs and venues (often underage) to get down and start grooving out music. We lived just outside of Athens, one of the best music towns in the country, so it wasn’t hard to dive right into music, which brought us into Atlanta.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Zach – The toughest part about being in a band is watching your friends stop. I’ve been playing music since high school, and most of the guys I started with just can’t keep going and playing. A lot of people focus on the goal of fame or money, but if you’re in it to connect with people, then you can’t lose.
Gabriel – It’s like nothing I ever dreamed of. I’ve been on the road for days traveling and playing in cities I might not have seen otherwise, and I’ve met wonderful people from all walks of life. It’s like a roller coaster; its ups are great, but things can get real tough, like when you get a flat tire going 75mph down an interstate and things are looking down, you just gotta hope the other guys in the band have sick driving skills (thanks, Sab)! Regardless of the challenges, there’s nothing like doing what you love with people you love.
Sebastian – It’s been a hell of a ride so far on this journey into music. Late nights, early mornings, lots of booze, midnight writings. All of it and I mean all of it becomes your music that feeds into your soul. It is an incredible thing to have this passion, this love for music. It makes life amazing and makes it worth living.
We’d love to hear more about your band.
We are a rock ‘n roll band who wants to make the world a better place.
Our focus is on being inclusive, that’s why we march in PRIDE every year, work with Camp Big Heart (camp in Perry, GA for developmentally delayed & special needs kids), and put together showcase events at ATHfest, SXSW, and other festivals. We also work to grow the local Atlanta music scene.
We want to inspire and bring music, art, and creative expression to everyone. Our heroes changed our world with music, and we want to create that experience with as many people as we can by bringing them Dirty, Sexy, Rock N Roll.
What were you like growing up?
Zach – I was indirectly a trouble maker. I was a smart kid, loved books and learning, but my older brother, Johann, always got us into trouble. Nothing serious, just lots of wild antics, mostly as children; but I’m grateful because he was the one that got me into playing music. We played with our friend, Jay, literally every day after high school, and that drive is what got me into playing constantly.
Sebastian – It was a constant of music, opening of doors and sounding of feet running in and out the house. Dancing to different tunes all the time, lots of reading and wonderful times. I started with music early on and always sang with the boys.
Gabriel – We’ve lost count of the scars I’ve collected over the years because when I get something into my head, I go for it, heart and soul. I’ve always loved music, but I didn’t learn an instrument when I was young. I spent my time in the outdoors, running, writing and trying to get lost all the while watching my brothers take on the world. I didn’t know where I was heading, but since I jumped behind the drums, there’s no place like home.
