Sir Classic has been nominated in several categories from the southern entertainment awards and has spoke on several music industry conference panels. He is also the host for his radio show “The Sir Classic Show”. His non-music business ventures include an online music video content sharing platform called Tune Vizion.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say some of my struggles would be learning from the school of hard knocks. Exactly not having an actual road map or blueprint to go off of to begin my journey in the music business and also as an entrepreneur when I first started out. But over time, those struggles and hardships have only made me stronger and wiser, and also my hiccups have been able to lead and direct others, that have looked for my help to consult them along the way, to not make the same mistakes that I have made in the past.
Dictator Records – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Well, the name of our company is Dictator Records. Dictator Records is a record label which we specialize in music production, music publishing & artist management. I am a record producer, music executive and I also DJ. Depending on what hat I’m wearing for the day dictates what needs to be executed. I just believe in getting things done, so if I have to be the C.E.O. Today and then comes tomorrow and there is a spill on the floor and it needs to be cleaned up then I guess I will be the janitor at the moment, lol!!! My most proudest moment in the past would probably be when I opened my music store and opened my recording studio back in the day. But as of now, my proudest moment to date would be that I’m still active and still releasing music and developing artists and growing as a person, DJ, record exec and businessman. What sets me apart from others is that, [Now quote me on this “I AM HE & HE Is I”] What am I known for? It depends on who you ask, some know me from helping them, some know me from having a music store and selling them music, some know me for putting out music as a record label, some know me from being a rapper, some know me from curating and promoting the May Day Classic music festival and the list goes on.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I simply define success by the goals I set for myself and when I accomplish them and check them off my list. Basically, small or big that’s how I define my success. My criterion is to set the task, and then from there, coming up with a plan and then executing the plan. The marks set would probably be dodging any mistakes in the past that I learned from and walking in faith and keeping God first in my journey.
