Today we’d like to introduce you to Shabe’ Jones-Hodges.
Shabe’, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m currently a stay at home mom of four girls and pregnant with the 5th. I’ve always had a passion for hair and making hair products. I noticed that my girls all had different hair textures and finding the right products was becoming a hassle. I knew what their hair needed and what the products I was buying lacked. I began mixing my own organic products and using them on both my clients, myself and my daughters and that’s how 4 Girlz And A Mom came about.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say a smooth road but it hasn’t been hard. My business is my passion so I enjoy doing it. My only struggles come from juggling making my products and being a mom. There are times I’m mixing up my shampoo bars with my 17 months old tied to my back and my 3 years showing me baby Shark on her iPad. Also, since I’m completely hands-on with everything, there are times when I get frustrated with the way my labels look or my printer breaks down in the middle of a job.
Please tell us about 4 Girlz And A Mom.
4 Girlz And A Mom is my biggest baby. My company was created in my heart. It’s a %100 organic homemade hair growth line. Everything is made from hand literally. I specialize in optimizing hair growth without compromising your hair textures. My products are made in some factory with millions of chemicals you can’t even pronounce and best of all my products can be used on the entire household.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child would be hanging out with my crew. My mom was never an intensely strict mom like others so I enjoyed being a kid. Going to cascade on Saturday nights, high school football games, shopping trips, and spring break vacations.
