Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakira Kali. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Shakira Kali was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She was inspired at an early age due to her grandmother owning a beauty salon and her mother being a nail technician. She always had in interest in the beauty industry growing up, and it made sense that she would one day follow in the same footsteps as the main two beautiful woman in her life. They inspired her to attend cosmetology school. In 2011 she attended Paul Mitchell The School Michigan full time until graduation in 2012. Shortly after, she became a licensed cosmetologist within the state of Michigan.
Shakira didn’t want to just be a “behind the chair” stylist but also a published freelance hairstylist that was well known. She started reaching out to all of the top photographers in the Metro Detroit Area to start building a portfolio and by the grace of God, they loved her vibrant attitude and believed in her craft just as much as she did and gave her a chance! Since then, she has established a name for herself with her unique and impeccable style, staunch, and professionalism. As well as building a name for herself in Atlanta Georgia.
Shakira Kali’s innovative styles have enabled her to present her work within various publications in the beauty industry that include: editorial, fashion, beauty, commercial, advertising, runway, video/film. She has also worked with and been featured by a variety of different brands such as

To name a few! Within these projects she has also done some wardrobe styling for some of the companies as well.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being an entrepreneur has its ups and downs. Keeping faith in God, surrounding yourself with individuals that want to see you succeed, motivating yourself daily is the key. Some days you’re going to think, this is not going to work, I’m not good enough but, you have to truly believe and understand what’s for you, is for you! Nothing or any way can take that away from you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Shakira specializes in the growth of natural hair care, coloring, cutting, wig units and also hair extensions. She continues to educate herself in order to stay alert on all the new things this beauty industry has to offer and provide the best quality service to each one of her clients.
She takes pride and is passionate about the skill God has blessed her with while she strives to empower women by consulting and educating all of her clients on healthy hair care and the products that she uses.
It is no doubt that Shakira will continue to build her name as a freelance expert in the hair industry around the world. Her craft will forever continue to grow with the love and support from God and from her late life partner of 11 years Joseph Riddle II.
What are your plans for the future?
This up and coming year, I plan on moving to Atlanta to continue to build a name for myself. As well as proceed with applying for the union in Atlanta to further my career working on some major productions.
