Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakira Shenee’ and Mary Elle.
The Unzipped Podcast is a lifestyle podcast for ambitious women who are creating the life they truly want, manifesting, and going after their dreams, from family to career. Hosted by Shakira Shenee and Mary Elle, two women who march to their own beat and share life experiences that women can relate too. Shakira and Mary met seven years ago working in the beauty industry, fate brought them to work together and after meeting for lunch, they had an aha moment. That’s when they knew they both had an aligned passion for inspiring not only in beauty but in business and all things lifestyle. From that moment on, The Unzipped was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We began this venture back in December with plans to launch early 2020 and then COVID hit. With many unforeseen obstacles, from being quarantined to replanning our entire launch – we didn’t let that stop us. We continued to persevere and restrategize a new plan. So we went back to the drawing board and moved forward and haven’t looked back since.
The Unzipped Podcast – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Unzipped Podcast is not only a brand but a movement by Women for Women! Our brand is dedicated to providing content that will not only inspire and motivate women but also create laughter. We are REAL, UNAPOLOGETIC, and UNZIPPED. Just after being in business for three months, we have been able to inspire a community of over 1000 women and growing.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
From the beginning, it’s just been us. Were happy to say we have built a community of women that stands behind us and supports us. They continue to motivate and inspire the movement. We have recently partnered with a fitness influencer who exclusively works with The Unzipped Squad in our Private FB Group – Women Only with over 130 women. As of today, we now have our 1st employee and we’re so excited to see our business grow.
