Today we’d like to introduce you to Shalisa Payne.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey really began when I helped my sister plan my niece’s Sweet 16. I handled the balloon décor and desserts, and what started as a favor for family slowly began to grow into something bigger. I started getting booked for small events here and there, and each time I realized how much I enjoyed creating unforgettable moments for people.
Everything clicked when I designed the décor for my parents’ birthday celebration. Seeing how my creativity could transform a space made me realize this wasn’t just a hobby. I genuinely loved it. From there, I expanded my services, added marquee letters to my inventory, and eventually grew into offering full event design, not just balloons.
Today, I’m still growing, still learning, and still loving every part of this business. One of the most rewarding pieces has been involving my daughter, showing her what entrepreneurship looks like and helping her build that mindset early. What started as a simple family project has turned into a passion that continues to flourish every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say the road has been rough, but it has definitely stretched me outside of my comfort zone. This journey has taught me a lot about setting boundaries, finding balance between work and life, and most importantly…..trusting myself.
One of the biggest challenges has been showing up on social media. You have to post so people can see your work, but staying consistent hasn’t always been my strong suit. Still, every time I finish a setup and step back to look at it, I get that feeling of, “Yeah…that’s nice.” Those moments make all the effort worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in event décor and event coordination, offering everything from balloon installations and marquee letters to full-service event design even dessert shooters. I love taking a blank space and transforming it into something memorable. What I’m most proud of is my ability to bring a client’s vision to life, so much so that it’s printed on our business shirts. Many clients come to me without knowing exactly what they want; they just know they want their event to feel perfect. That’s where I step in.
I chose the name Touched with Perfection because I’m particular in the best way, I pay attention to every detail and truly care about delivering an experience that feels intentional, polished, and personal. What sets me apart is that I don’t just decorate; I listen, I interpret, and I create an atmosphere that reflects the client’s moment, milestone, or message. I want every setup to feel special, and I take pride in making sure it does.
How do you think about luck?
Honestly, I don’t feel like luck has played a role in my business. Everything built has come from showing up, being consistent, and pushing myself creatively. I have to constantly post content and highlight all the services provided so that when people search for event décor, they clearly see what we offer. I’m always challenging myself to create a variety of unique setups, and it’s that effort, growth, and willingness to evolve that has moved my business forward.
And I’m truly thankful for my clients, because without them, there wouldn’t be a business at all!
