Today we’d like to introduce you to Shamorrow “Mo” Jemison.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a 38-year-old mother of two, one daughter, one son. Unfortunately, I’m also divorced. One day, my 18 years (she was 17 at the time) old daughter introduced me to mink eyelash extensions. She asked me for a week if she could get them. I finally gave in and said yes, I also decided to get eyelash extensions as well. The young lady that did my eyelashes was rolling!! She had so many clients. I was impressed.
My ex-husband has a very successful business that he’s had for 16 years. I thought to myself “If you can help him start a business, you can definitely help yourself.” At that moment, I decided to take an eyelash extension class. I ended up taking two classes, the young lady that originally did my eyelash extensions was involved with the entire process.
When I finished training, I did a few friends and family members mink eyelash extensions for free, just to get the experience. I started off in Stone Mountain… fast forward, I wanted to be closer to home so I relocated to Henry County. Business rapidly picked up!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not and is not always easy. I work a full-time job in the health care profession. Once I’m off from my full-time job, I do eyelash extensions. I have clients daily. I consider that to be a blessing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Elite Lashing – what should we know?
Elite Lashing was established in April of 2018. I specialize in Classic Mink Eyelash Extensions. I am known for not just providing a great service, but providing a tranquil experience. My service is therapeutic. When a client comes to me for mink eyelash extension installment(s), not only do they leave looking just as beautiful as they did before they came, they leave feeling refreshed. My suite is set up like a spa. There’s ocean sounds or smooth jazz playing in the background which allows my client to take a soothing nap, The experience leaves you feeling euphoric.
I’m proud to help so many women feel better about themselves. As a woman I like to encourage, motivate, and build others up physically, mentally, and emotionally. There are times, a client may not want to take a nap, and she may need to vent. I’m a listening ear, full of encouraging words. I’ve been known to pray with my clients at the end of their service.
What sets me apart from other Eyelash Techs are my prices. Most Full Classic Sets start at $125. My prices start at $65. It’s not that I don’t value my art, I value people as well. I want every one of my clients to return and I don’t want price to be an issue. It’s not always about how much money you can make, it’s about the positive impact you can leave with someone.
