Meet Shanise Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanise Brown.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As many of us may have, I was working a bunch of dead-end jobs that hadn’t gotten me anywhere and I was fed up. I had always thought about branching off and doing my own thing but, to me, when I first thought about it, seemed impossible because.. what did I know about running a business? No one taught me that! The thought seemed 20 feet tall. So as I continued to extend myself to other companies, with little in return, the thought of starting my own business became more and more desirable. The summer of 2019 is when I had enough. I decided to face any underlying doubts or fears that were stopping me and took the leap of faith. I shortly began selling self-care gift baskets. I chose self-care gift baskets because after many years emotionally spent from loose jobs, I know what a good self-care routine can do and I would love to promote those same positive emotions to as many people as I can. I sold gift baskets for all occasions. Birthdays, holidays, the whole nine. I might have even made up a few holidays just so I can have an excuse to sell a basket from time to time, lol. The feeling was amazing and I think it was that moment that solidified my belief that… “Hey.. this is obtainable!” It was great. But as an English poet once said, “all good things must come to an end.” And that’s what happened… My baskets fizzled out sadly to say. I didn’t let that be the end though. Nope. This is when I began to think of new ways to revamp my brand. It was at that time my spouse suggested to me that I should start handcrafting my own items from the gift baskets. Items such as the soaps, candles, room sprays, etc. So I said why not, at that point I had nothing to lose but all to gain. The odds were in my favor. I remember it like it was yesterday, getting my first 5-candle practice kit on amazon for about $15.95 in the mail. The rest is history…

Perfectly Imperfected Boutique has since satisfied over 10,495+ customers, who all have a common goal to promote self-care and spread awareness to others. Collectively, we have a goal to gain the support of 1,700,000 people, to spread awareness, encourage, and to inspire others to support self-care!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Let’s just say the road is like a downtown street. Full of bumps and big potholes, lol. Like that one time I almost burned my kitchen down trying to operate at a level 10 when I hadn’t learned level 4 lessons yet Or all the mental struggles like whether or not I was worthy of having the business I deserve… But I know that with every good thing comes challenges that lie ahead. And I think knowing that helps to ease the bumps I know will come along with this decision to run my own boutique.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The best words to describe what I do are… create and inspire. That’s it. That’s the punchline. I create and inspire. I run an online boutique where I express my creativity in ways that’re aimed to help others and spread awareness about self-care. Every soap and every candle I create has a purpose beyond the physical. Any time someone uses one of my products or puts someone else on, I want that exchange to act as a beacon for positive energy. Something that I am most proud of is how many people I have inspired so far. My elders have always told me that I was a “healer” but I never saw it; not until I started to put myself out there. Since I’ve started my journey in this business, I’ve had people that I would not have expected tell me how much I inspire them. That in itself is enough fuel to keep me going.

I can separate myself in a lot of ways from others but I think that would be counterproductive to what I’m trying to accomplish. How can I set myself apart if my goal is to bring the community together? The more people on the same high-quality page, the better I would say.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
