Meet Shannon Willow of Shannon Willow Art

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Willow.

Shannon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am on an intentional journey, passionate about engaging people in the present moment, sharing my vast affection for the land, and all living beings on the planet. Conservation and preservation are foundations in my art and my spiritual lifestyle.

I am an art activist working in the community to build closer connections between the community and their relationship to one another and Mother Earth. When we reconnect with Earth and our sacred water we reconnect to self.

I am a muralist and oil painter. I paint “talking trees” to connect people with a deeper sense of their emotional intelligence and the unique gifts that only they can bring to the world. I facilitate workshops in my studio and art team building in the corporate setting to engage people in an art experience that creates a shift in perception and interconnectedness.

The majority of my work and work with community creates more interconnectedness to self, community and all the gifts offered by our natural world. We are all connected.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As an art entrepreneur one of the biggest challenges is to wear all the hats! I drive the business in sales and marketing and then change hats to the creative side. One thing you have to make time for is studio time, which is challenging as a solo-prenuer. I work constantly and am grateful for each moment, challenge and lesson in my art practice.

I find there is not enough people understanding the true value art brings to the world and so this is a conversation I have a lot with my clients and community. I am not afraid to say “no” to a job that does not pay a professional artist the value of the work.

I will continue to have these conversations and engage people in the value of art that years of art experience, training and growth brings to their lives and the lives with our communities. Art is a change maker and my work is made that change happen!
