I started doing makeup when I was 18 going in 19. I needed a job because I had a kid and I knew I obtained this special skill set to do makeup so I started looking around for work. I stumbled across this wonderful women named China, Unique Faces, who basically gave me my first shot at being a professional makeup artist. Working on the west side of Atlanta throughout the beginning of my career than to the South and the migrated to the East, where I’m from. Over the years, I’ve picked up many traits, different techniques and trades as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
In being a freelancer is never unicorns and rainbows all the time when it’s good, it’s definitely good and when it’s bad it’s stressful. I’ve struggled with jealousy of others costing me my job and sometimes my trust in people. I’ve worked for companies that were extremely em selfish with their best employees, meaning we had no life beyond the job. It was literally work and go home. No, you don’t get time off for your kids. That’s the most difficult thing I’ve dealt with as a mother, my job making me feel like I should be more obligated to it than I am to my kids. I had to learn to balance what a healthy freelance lifestyle looks like.
Please tell us about Dope Beauté Gang.
Dope Beauté Gang is about being your most authentic you. My goal is to make women and men alike feel Beautéful about who they are. I am a Makeup Artist, known for bomb symmetrical eyebrows, with a dental assisting background, so I also specialize in tooth gems and teeth whitening.
I am proud to be able to incorporate two completely different esthetics into one business and make it work. What sets me apart from others is that o can do multiple things a lot of people are self-conscious about. Maybe you do t have the whitest teeth, or nice brows or lashes for that matter. I can help in every aspect of making you more appealing to yourself to want to flaunt a show the world how DOPE you are
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry is forever changing and growing, I definitely see more trends in the future.
