Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantel Alphabet.
Shantel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello, I am the co-founder of the Alphabet House International School. The Alphabet House International School, we believe that every child can excel in learning and academia regardless of environment or setting. As our primary goal is to challenge and disrupt the modern-day classroom, we understand exactly what it takes to equip your child with the tools and resources needed to not only become a high-achiever but also to be confident and well-rounded student of life. Our students are bright, eager, and excited about everything that a classroom without limits has to offer!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We began our Private Homeschool in a one-bedroom Buckhead apt in 2010. At the time, my sister and I were raising our five nephews and two nieces. Yes, in the one-bedroom apartment. We would transform the front of our apartment to the school space by day and the kids living Quarters at night. We outgrew the apt and moved to three different locations before landing space at our current building. The road has been tough and still remains tough as we try to build a private school. Last year proved to be the toughest, as we endured and still is enduring the pandemic. We went from 50 scholars to 20, to closing our school from March until August. Upon doing a soft opening, hybrid style, we currently have 15 scholars and a ton of bills plus a large rent to pay. However, we’re rallying for our community, family and friends to help save our school at this time.
Alphabet House International School – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Currently, the Alphabet House International School/GEEK CLUB KIDS operates out of Atlanta, GA. Our goal is to change the world as we train scholars to learn without limitations. Recently published, the Alphabet House story and educational narrative set to music, all while preparing young scholars to ace the SAT/ACT TEST. We’ve had three scholars ages 9-12 to pass the ACT. One of our scholars were invited as a Duke Tip scholar because he scored a 22 on the ACT!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m most proud when I witness my scholars excelling.
