Meet Sharhonda Henry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharhonda Henry.

Sharhonda Henry

Hi Sharhonda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have been making door wreaths for over 10 years. It started on a whim when I saw this orange and blue wreath that I thought would be perfect for my door. I thought the price was too high and figured I would try to make one myself. So that’s what I did. I bought the supplies and put my skills to work. It turned out cute, and people saw it and wanted one too! So, I started making and selling them. It quickly turned into a fun and profitable hobby. Over time, I’ve been able to experiment with different techniques to create beautiful masterpieces.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, it’s been pretty smooth. But, of course, there will always be learning opportunities. It takes a while to identify your target market. In the beginning, I tried to create everything for everybody. Doing that will tire you out really quickly. You have to find your specialty and enhance that. Then, set your price point and stick to it. The right customers will find you!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve worked in corporate America for the majority of my professional career. It has afforded me many opportunities in my career and in life. Working with a variety of people and customers has played a huge part in helping me turn my hobby into a successful business. My customer service skills have definitely been enhanced. And I’m more prepared to address customers who express their concerns. I’m most proud of my resilience. I’ve learned that setbacks are not dead ends but rather a chance to pause and regroup. I believe that this outlook sets me apart from others.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Hmm! That’s a great question. I think I look for motivation and inspiration in a number of places. I love a good quote to get the day started. Because of this, I follow a ton of blogs and social media pages that focus on self-care and gratefulness. I don’t have one particular “go-to.” I am open to any kind of advice/information that sparks creativity or encourages mindfulness.
