Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharolyn Turnbow.
Hi Sharolyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Growing up, I’ve been an athletic my whole life by playing softball from high school, college, and travel teams. I never thought of ever getting older and worrying about doing anything else to stay active and in shape. Low and behold, reality set in, and I became older and ceased playing softball due an injury, which caused me to look for an alternative way to stay in shape. During the journey with extra responsibilities of adulthood, I gained weight, started overeating, became pre-diabetic, enrolled in gyms that I didn’t commit to, couldn’t find a cardio workout that truly suited me. Until I discovered SHAPEUP KICKBOXING!
This workout was not only a great all-around workout but was/is very therapeutic for me due to the loss of my parents. What a way to release tension by punching/kicking on the punching bag! Not only did I reverse from being a pre-diabetic, but I lost close to 30lbs from committing to a 3-day-a-week regiment of kickboxing.
Under the instructions of Cody Foor and PJ Moore, I have learned so much from kickboxing, from techniques, balance, strength, and how to motivate others to keep pushing while doing this cardio workout. Not only have I enjoyed the workout, but it has also led me to become the Owner of ShapeUp KICKBOXING-Loganville.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With any business, the first year has been trying due to people’s commitment, overhead fees, advertising, and establishing a new business in the area. However, with the help of my leaders, RJ Presti and Stephen Mallory, they have helped with several bumps that have occurred in the road.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
