Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Beason.
Sharon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I launched Womeneur April 2015 to fill the gap of affordable resources, no-nonsense advice, community and events being available to emerging and early-stage female entrepreneurs. I’ve been a serial entrepreneur since 2015, and I began pondering what I could launch next.
During research, I began seeing the ‘crazy’ in the packaging of brands: crazy-looking logos, websites, marketing collateral, etc, and it was at this moment where I had a ‘Eureka!’ I realized how much business-savvy knowledge I had gained during my serial entrepreneur years, so I decided I would launch a platform helping femalepreneurs avoid the mistakes I made as well guide them through their hard-a*s, overwhelming journey.
I first began offering consultations, a few e-books and then launched WomeneurCon in 2017. I also launched my WomeneurCollective membership in 2017 and became an author of The Entrepreneur Startup Gameplan in March 2018. It debuted as the #1 book in the Home-based Business Category. The first stop of my book-signing tour was Atlanta!!
Truth be told, I believe in being authentic and genuine in order to grow a successful brand and so this is the messaging behind the Womeneur brand. To know that you don’t need to look, sound, dress, speak, think and act like everyone else to be successful. I also embrace the downside of the journey, and so it’s important for me to support the ‘underground’ entrepreneur who’s killing it, but remains unpopular because a blog, influencer or major media didn’t mention them.
I’m very excited about the community I’ve grown and fostered, and my soul is filled with joy from those who allow me to become a part of their entrepreneur journey. I may be three years in, but trust and believe… I’m just getting started!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely not an easy journey and this is why I stay repeating my messaging about mindset and respecting the process. As an entrepreneur you will wear many hats, but it’s also your responsibility to plan and outsource your weaknesses as soon as you can.
I initially struggled immensely with being my authentic self and feeling obligated to dress, look and act like everyone else. It troubled me deeply when I would meet influencers offline and see a completely different personality (for the worse) than the one embodied online.
This is what really made me feel obligated to not only show my true, authentic self but to also champion for the underdog and show the downside of entrepreneurship. I grew tired of influencers influencing that success looked, acted, sounded, spoke and dressed one way; and it’s completely absurd.
I finally began expressing my true authentic self, dressing my unique style, keeping it raw, real and in your face and expressing myself through curse words. Which isn’t unprofessional at all, but just a form of expression. I don’t even want to begin pointing out Instagram accounts of well-known, influential brands that curse and don’t even bleep out the words LOL
My goal was to begin creating a space of non-judgment, where people could feel comfortable being themselves and celebrating themselves and to know that success looked different on everyone and not what mass media dictated.
Fast forward… I am filled with so much joy to know that I have influenced people to grow their brands being authentic. To know that success, clients and money still await them – even more so – from just being their true self.
In 2017, I was approached by Shopify and Thinkific to establish partnerships, and it’s important for people to know that they can be themselves, be authentic and be unapologetically badass and still get paid!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Womeneur – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Womeneur offers affordable resources, no-nonsense advice, community, motivation, and events to help to emerging and early-stage female entrepreneurs navigate their hard-a*s, overwhelming journey.
I offer:
-30-minute and 60-minute strategy sessions
-WomneurCon annual all-day conference
-WomeneurCollective membership to help women plan, launch and grow their business successfully.
I am holistic strategist (I have good knowledge in many areas of business), but have expertise knowledge in startup strategy and helping women build a solid business foundation.
I am known for my startup expertise, but most importantly known for my authenticity, genuity, keeping it raw & real and the business ‘aunty’ who will tell you what you don’t want to hear, but need to; and who has nothing but your best interest.
What sets me apart is that I’m an independent and free thinker, so therefore I am not swayed by the masses. I do what I want and have a grown an amazing community built on trust, loyalty and being my 100% self.
I am most proud of establishing a niche and brand and creating so much for so many in the short period of three years.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
It may be three years in, but I’m just getting started LOL! I have plans for a revamped, kick-a*ss website, a few e-courses and additional memberships.
