Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Thomas-Love.
Sharon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am married to a wonderful man David Love. I am the mother of seven kids, five biological Shamell Thomas 26, Sha-Quielle Thomas 25, Niah Thomas 20, Isaiah Thomas 18 and Iyanna Thomas 13 along with my two bonus kids from my current marriage Alexis Love 21, and David Jr. 25. I refer to my kids as my Fabulous five, my joy, my inspiration, my reason for success. I currently became a grandmother of a three-month-old bouncing adorable baby boy who the new added center of attention. I am a Jill of many trades, aka a serial entrepreneur. I enjoy painting, braiding hair, party decorating and applying eyelash extensions. I am the profound founder and CEO of the A-countabiltiy Plus Tax Service. I started my tax business, to educate other entrepreneurs in the area of taxes, and how to conduct a successful business. In 2017 I continued my accounting education and graduated with a Bachelor in Accounting and currently pursuing my Masters in leadership in the 21st Century. Leaders inspire action and adaptability in an unpredictable world.
I have been in business for over 20 years and have mentored other tax professionals to launch their own tax companies successfully. I believe Mentoring is one of the keys to succession planning. It is a powerful way to develop the next generation of firm leaders. I have recently launched a Facebook group called “Douglasville Small Business Plug,” which is a community of small business owners in the Douglasville area. This group is a haven for small business owners to unwind and discuss the plague of being a small business owner without judgment and ridicule. It is a group to unleash, and let out steam, and talk about struggles faced by small business owners.
I was inspired to start my tax business because I was a victim of tax fraud over 20 years ago and was extremely frustrated with the system and how things operated.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way.
Smooth…… Not at all. Raising five kids and trying to build a business was an extreme challenge. My Fabulous five was all fathered by one individual who decided to walk out on me after giving birth to our fifth child. This was devastating and heartbreaking to my young children and myself as well. Our lives was rough; but never compromised. The kids were sad and could not understand why he would do this to them or me. This was the hardest challenge a mother could face, left to raise five dependent children on her own, while trying to build a business.
