Today we’d like to introduce you to Shauna Malone.
Shauna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love of backing started when I was young, watching my grandmother bake for her friends and church members. Working in the Mental Health field, it later became a therapeutic way to help manage with day to day stress. I would make cupcakes and take them to work to get feedback from my co-workers. After that, I began taking small orders of custom cakes and cookies in Tennessee. In 2015, I relocated back to Georgia for another job opportunity. I had already established a clientele in the area, so it was fairly easy to jump back in the swing of things. Since relocating back to the area business has grown tremendously.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has NOT been an easy ride. There have definitely been some bumps along the way. The hardest part of the business is managing your time. Making sure that you are equally spending time with family, but keeping the business running smoothly. At times the paperwork side of the business can be overwhelming. I’ve learned that you can’t do everything and it pays to outsource some tasks.
Cara Bella Creations by Shauna, LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Cara Bella Creations by Shauna, LLC is a small business specializing in designer cookies and small desserts. I would have to say; I’m most known for my intricate details on my designer cookies and desserts. I’m most proud of being able to provide my clients with the most memorable sweet experience.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define my success as being able to meet/exceed my business goals. This is not a hobby, but a “TRUE” passion. It’s an amazing feeling to be a part of your client’s most memorable life moments. So to have them return year after year is a blessing and lets me know that I’m doing something right. In addition, to having people within your industry refer you out to other people. You never know who is watching you and that is it’s important to display your best work.
