Shavon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As an established event planner and co-founder of La Soirée Chic Events, I sought out to fill a void in the wedding industry for couples that yearned for a more personable experience as an alternative to a courthouse ceremony. It has taken a lot of time, research, highs, lows and a ton of lessons learned to develop Elope in Atlanta into what it is today. I’m incredibly proud of the continued growth of this service, and I look forward to planning even more beautiful weddings in the coming years!
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has NOT been smooth! However, I’m grateful for all the struggles and pitfalls I encountered along the way because they motivated me to progress. Early on during the scouting stage, I attempted to partner with an industry professional that ultimately tried to take my idea. I felt extremely hurt and discouraged at first but used those emotions to fuel my fire.

Elope in Atlanta is a fabulous, intimate wedding experience offered exclusively by La Soirée Chic Events. Teamed up with my most trusted FRIENDors and some of Atlanta’s top industry professionals, we produce beautiful celebrations of love that although are small in size, are grand in style. Couples who book us get a one-of-a-kind inclusive experience that doesn’t break the bank.
I’m extremely proud to have created a space in such an overly saturated industry that piques the interest of so many people. My competitors may have similar offerings, but they lack creating the overall experience that comes with planning an elopement or small wedding my way.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the fact that Atlanta is thriving and becoming that “it” place. However, the very thing that I love about it is also what’s driving me to dislike it. This city is becoming super crowded, and there seems to be traffic all day, every day!
