Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn B. Pierre.
Shawn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My Name Is Shawn B. Pierre and I Graduated from the Prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA Majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in finance; minor in criminal justice. I am originally from a small town known as Lil Haiti in Miami, FL. Moreover, I became an entrepreneur Spring Semester during my Sophomore year in college. I was introduced to entrepreneurship by my roommate at the time because he was asking me for business advice and I happen to be a business major so I was more than welcome to help him with a few tips and ideas for his company. However, that sparked an entrepreneurship fire within me to create my own company.
I created a lifestyle/motivational clothing brand better known as Humble & Faithful Co. who’s mission is to encourage people to appreciate the beauty in life while motivating others to chase there dreams through fashion and daily apparel. No matter what your passion is on this earth, Humble & Faithful is here to push you to “Stay Faithful to The GRIND” and you will gain/obtain much success. (i.e. – School, Career Goals, Sports, etc.) We live in a Microwave Society: the mindset of wanting (and nearly getting) everything “RIGHT NOW” is toxic.
So, Humble & Faithful Co. is here to remind you that it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. We are here to support your dreams! I also, got into starting my own company because I wanted something to give my great grandkids to talk about; I will leave a legacy behind to show that African Americans can create something from nothing.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles, in the beginning, was believing that this can work. Once, I tested the market and put out a few samples of our original Humble & Faithful t-shirts and had an extremely positive reaction. I knew it was time to supply the demand. But, along the way we had trouble finding the best print shops that had great prices, so we found ourselves working too hard to make a decent amount of profit. So I suggest that if you want a T-Shirt brand, make sure to lower your cost and maximize your profits.
However, our breaking point was having people come on to our team that you thought shared the same passion for moving forward with the brand as you did. So at this current time, we are looking for creatives that share the passion of sharing their testimony with the world to help others overcome their current hardships. #HumbleNFaithful
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Humble & Faithful Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
My friends and family call me Shawn P. and I ran with it. However, I am holistically a creative: I’m a Music Producer, a visionary and a financier. I am also known to be very inspirational/motivational at times because I like to use my voice as a vessel to encourage others that if you can dream it, you can achieve it. But, it takes unwavering faith and patience to manifest the things that are in your mind to real life. If you “Stay Faithful to the GRIND!” and go confidently in the direction of your dreams; you’ll live the life you’ve imagined.
One of my proudest moment as a company is making that first sale at Market Friday at Spelman College and knowing that I had a product that the masses wanted. Actually, with Humble & Faithful apparel you have two principles that can last you a lifetime. This is not just a right now thing, Humble & Faithful will last forever because relatable and easily understood.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really believe in luck because what’s meant to happen are done to you for a reason. We have a lot of blessings that happened throughout our ‘journey as a company.
