Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena Razmi.
Sheena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing makeup at the Estée Lauder counter when I was 18, it was in the Macy’s at the Atlanta famous, Lenox Mall. It was a job I held during my freshman year of college, I was attending to major in Fashion Design & Marketing.
The salon I’d been getting my hair done at since I was in the 3rd grade was hiring for a makeup artist for the cosmetics team. Long story short, Nikole Pettus, the lovely cosmetics director, took me under her wing & I did the apprentice route. I was loving what I was doing so much, I decided to drop the fashion & focus on beauty.
Years into working at the salon, I had my beautiful son. The late hours made me feel like I was missing important parts of his childhood. So, I took the biggest leap of faith in my life & I started freelancing… I built a website & reached out to all the photographers I could. The first couple of years were very scary. I often thought I’d made a mistake leaving a steady job… but after a couple of years, production companies were finding me online & I began to build my network.
I’m now proud to say, that leap of faith was the best decision of my life. I’m now overbooked & overworked (laughs) but these are the days I prayed for.
Sheena Razmi – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
