Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheila Jancara Cabrera.
Hi Sheila Jancara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Sheila Cabrera. I’m an architect by profession, a certified trichologist, botanical formulator, and currently a student of chemistry, physics, and environmental science. I was born in the south of the Dominican Republic, in San Juan de la Maguana, and in 2018, I emigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities. That transition not only changed my environment, but also transformed my relationship with my hair.
Leaving behind Dominican salons, I had to face my natural texture without knowing how to care for it. In 2019, seeking a solution, I visited a salon where the stylist described my hair as “rebellious” and offered me a keratin treatment as an alternative to what she called “reverse.” That application turned out to be devastating it severely damaged my hair fiber, and I ended up losing more than 50% of my hair.
The pandemic arrived soon after, and with salons shut down, many women like me were left with no options. That’s when my journey began: I studied botanical formulation, started a career in science, and became certified as an international trichologist. I discovered a new passion understanding hair through science, emotional care, and deep respect for nature.
That journey gave birth to Nature Capelli LLC, a brand based in Massachusetts, focused on hair and skin care, with formulas that are 100% vegan, organic, and cruelty-free. We create specialized products for curly hair both for adults and children based on safe, nourishing, and sustainable ingredients. We don’t use harsh chemicals, and we address real concerns such as hair loss, dandruff, oiliness, heat damage, altered porosity, and dehydration.
Beyond products, I offer personalized scalp and hair evaluations (both in-person and virtual), share educational content through social media, and support individuals seeking to reconnect with their hair health through knowledge and self-love.
My vision is to create a professional laboratory where I can not only continue developing my own formulas to the highest standards, but also help other entrepreneurs bring their own conscious haircare brands to life. I also dream of opening an exclusive head spa where only our products are used creating a sanctuary dedicated to wellness, relaxation, and deep hair and scalp restoration.
Nature Capelli LLC is proudly based in Massachusetts and currently ships to the entire United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Every bottle we create holds a story, and mine is just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting over in a new country came with many layers of difficulty. When I moved to the United States in 2018, I didn’t speak English fluently, I had no close family nearby to help care for my children, and I had to rebuild my life from zero—with limited time and resources.
Balancing motherhood with my studies and business responsibilities was one of the hardest challenges. There were times when I had to study late at night, after putting my children to bed, or answer clients while cooking or helping with homework. I had the vision and the passion, but not always the time or support.
Another challenge was self-belief. Coming from a culture where natural hair is often misunderstood or judged, it took inner work to embrace my texture, educate myself deeply, and then position myself as a professional voice in the haircare space.
But every obstacle became part of my strength. The lack of help taught me to be resourceful. The language barrier pushed me to learn faster. And the loneliness taught me to connect with my purpose and keep going, even when no one was watching. That resilience is now at the heart of Nature Capelli.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nature Capelli LLC?
Nature Capelli LLC is a hair care company founded by a Dominican woman and based in Massachusetts. We blend science, nature, and conscious beauty. We specialize in vegan, organic, and cruelty-free products specifically formulated for curly hair in both adults and children, as well as for needs such as hair growth, deep hydration, nourishment, damage repair, dandruff control, and balancing oily scalps.
What sets us apart is our holistic approach: each formula is created not only with clean and sustainable ingredients, but also with a deep understanding of hair science and scalp health. As a certified trichologist and botanical formulator, I design every product to address real needs like altered porosity, damage from straightening treatments, scalp imbalances, hair growth, hydration, and curl definition.
Beyond the products, I offer personalized scalp and hair evaluations (both in-person and virtual), ongoing education through social media, and a supportive community where every client feels seen, understood, and empowered to embrace their natural beauty.
Nature Capelli is more than a brand it’s a movement. We ship our products across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, and we are building something even greater: a future head spa where our clients will receive personalized treatments using only our formulas, and a professional laboratory that will not only support our own production, but also help other entrepreneurs bring their own haircare brands to life.
What makes me most proud is knowing that our clients aren’t just buying a product they are beginning a transformation. A transformation rooted in knowledge, healing, identity, and care.
What’s next?
In the near future, I plan to launch new specialized haircare collections under Nature Capelli including treatments for different porosity levels, protective styling support, and seasonal care. I’m also working on expanding our educational content to empower more people to understand their scalp and curls through science and self-love.
Long-term, I’m focused on opening our first Nature Capelli Head Spa, a space where we’ll offer personalized scalp and hair treatments using only our clean, effective formulas. I’m also building the foundation for a professional laboratory not just for our brand’s growth, but to help other aspiring entrepreneurs bring their own conscious haircare lines to life.
I’m excited about the future because I know that this journey isn’t just mine it belongs to every person who’s ever felt lost with their hair and is now ready to heal it with knowledge, dignity, and care.
