Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheldon Davis.
Sheldon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I worked for an well known- Home improvement company for 18 years, and I got to a point where I felt unfulfilled working for someone else and wanted to explore entrepreneurship, and branched out on my own. I had obtained a lot of knowledge in a wide range of fields over the years spent in the Home Improvement field, and while in College,and felt it was time to use this knowledge to do something that I was passionate about (Home Improvement), Passionate for ( Home Owners) and named my company after my number one passion, which is my daughter( Shelby).
Has it been a smooth road?
The road is never completely smooth, but nothing is, so I had to believe in myself and my capabilities to preserver through anything. When starting a business on your own and from scratch, there is only you to depend on to raise the financial capital, to come up with ideas, and to make decisions from your best judgement. That is why I would tell anyone who is thinking about becoming an entrepreneur, to go ahead and make the leap, because the best way to stay in business is to get into business in order to improve upon your business knowledge-base. You have to come up with strategies to market your services to the customers that demand them.

Small Jobs By Shelby provides a variety of general contracting services for residential and light commercial clients in South-West Georgia area. The company focuses on small projects (less than 1000 square feet) and handles everything from carpentry and interior/exterior painting to minor plumbing and electrical work, which gives customers a single point of contact throughout each phase of the construction process. What sets us apart is that we will do the small jobs other contractors wouldn’t touch, in order to satisfy the homeowner.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, because the people of Atlanta appreciate hard work, and if you offer a service, and you are willing to put in the effort and quality necessary to grow that brand you will be handsomely rewarded for it. I would recommend any business to start in Atlanta for several reasons, and my number reason would be location, the city of Atlanta is in the middle of many of the most prestigious urban, suburbs, and rural communities.
