Today we’d like to introduce you to Shemeika and Nathaniel Banks.

Soulful, powerful, engaging, and amazing are just a few words that describe the interworkings of Brownchild Entertainment. A live band and brainchild of Nate and Shemeika, Brownchild Entertainment is an eclectic fusion of powerhouse vocals, textured harmonies, and superior showmanship featuring four talented vocalists and an accomplished band. Shemeika, lead soprano vocalist, began her career as a member of neo-soul phenomenon, The Phat Cat Players. The Phat Cat Players were the opening act for recording artists like D’Angelo, Frankie Beverly & Maze, and Brian McKnight. While rehearsing long hours, touring and performing Shemeika and drummer/percussionist Nate fell in love. Their mutual passion for music was the catalyst that propelled them into envisioning a life together and creating their own band… Brownchild Entertainment. Today, Brownchild Entertainment captures their audiences with some of the best vocal harmonies performed by Shemeika, Altos Kim Gleaton, and Dionna Gilbert, and Contralto, Anissa Jones. Best of friends-turned-musical virtuosos, these ladies are high energy, and are sure to have their audience up dancing and singing along with them. From Jazz to Blues, R&B to Pop, Rock to Country and beyond, Brownchild Entertainment specializes in providing a high energy, dynamic and exciting live music experience!

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s definitely been a blast. We’ve been blessed to encounter an awesome group of musicians and vocalists over the years who share our love of musical excellence and performing. The biggest challenge usually comes with balancing our “real lives”, including demanding careers & raising 3 beautiful kids with booking quality events and scheduling productive rehearsals.

Brownchild Entertainment is the ultimate choice for live entertainment. Whether it’s a music festival, birthday party, wedding, convention event, or even a funeral, we’ve got you covered. We specialize in bringing high-energy and quality whenever we perform. We’re known for delivering powerhouse vocals & outstanding musicianship that cover any and every genre of music you could think of. I’m a strong believer in having three-part harmony on every song so that the audience feels every note’s richness and texture. We’re most proud of the overwhelmingly positive feedback & response we get from happy clients and their guests. Over half of our events are booked on recommendations and word of mouth.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In recent years, we’ve seen a real throwback to live instrumentation and authentic music, which is fabulous because that’s the foundation of what Brownchild loves to do. People want to relive the days where a keyboard or piano sounded like a keyboard or piano. They want to hear a real singing voice with no enhancement other than a mic. There appears to be a growing trend of multiple venues in the city showcasing “old school” music shows, paying tribute to soulful musicians and vocalists featuring the plethora of local talent Atlanta has to offer.
