Meet Sherrie Bennett of Sherrie Imaging in South Side Forest Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherrie Bennett.

Sherrie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have loved taking pictures since I was a teen. But I picked up my first DSLR in 2013. I started taking pictures with my first digital camera of models and worked into shooting weddings, events, parties and even head shots.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is never easy to just pick up a camera and shoot good pictures. I had to learn the settings and still learning too. I was told if you stop learning then put down the camera. Learning lighting and how to use it was struggle to me at first, still working to prefect it. And learning to pose people, never realized how it all looks through a camera till I started doing it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sherrie Imaging – what should we know?
I love taking pictures just about everything I see. I have been published in Big City Kids Magazine 2015, Fuzon Dark 2016, two articles in La Beaute Feb 2016, and front cover in La Beaute in Feb 2015. Last year had an image I took, put on a banner and showcased downtown Atlanta with 11 other images from other photographers.

I think what sets me part from others is my creativity.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I love to give a shout out to my daughter Thersea Bennett that believes in me. Told me I can do it and tell me what I did wrong in a shoot to make it better.
