Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheteria and Carlos Webb.
Sheteria and Carlos, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young child, I was always infatuated with cooking in the kitchen. I was always known to my grandmother as a professional taste tester. The other grand children would be outside jumping ropes and I would be in the kitchen with my grandmothers watching them cook. The first thing my grandmother taught me to cook was tea cakes, which later lead to her famous homemade biscuits. My family was very close-knit and would gather at my mother’s house on Sundays for dinner, which I’d always orchestrate. I never liked potluck meals where everyone would bring a dish because it always led to the whispers of “who cooked this”. So to alleviate that, I would later start to help my mom cook the large meals for the holidays.
As I got older and became a mother and wife, I loved cooking for them. I’ve always been a person of perception so the food served always had to have presentation…my motto has always been “presentation is EVERYTHING” . My family and peers would always ask,” when Is the restaurant opening?”
Ten years ago I started working on a gourmet turkey burger…I wasn’t a fan of beef burgers so I wanted to create a recipe to wake up the unpopular turkeyburger due to its dryness. After years of making my custom gourmet burger at every event, people started inquiring about the CRACK BURGER. The CRACK BURGER earned its name due to its popularity and addiction.. ten years later it has lived up to its name.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I now own a restaurant that I run alongside of my husband Carlos and family . We both can be found behind the counter of the cafe. It has not been an easy road because daily we are having to introduce the community to a burger that‘s not so familiar or popular in SW Atlanta. It’s fun and a challenge uplifting the community with our food and award-winning customer service that we show to our customers each visit. Its a struggle managing and running a business with your spouse because we always tend to bring work home when we are never not working. The plus is that it is fun working beside your best friend.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Terri’s Cafe Inc – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am an Atlanta native and it gives me great pleasure to be able to open my restaurant in the community that groomed me. I graduated from Frederick Douglas High School and am a product of The Atlanta Public School System. Terri’s Cafe currently is a take out only restaurant, where you can call in your order or walk-in and order. This is a black-owned and family operated business. On any given day alongside my husband and I, you will see our children, parents, sisters, uncle or aunt loving on you and preparing your food with love. You will come in even if for the first time and leave out feeling as if you are apart of our family. We take pride in being a restaurant that does not sell beef nor pork. We strive to sell food that’s actually healthy for your body and soothes your soul. What sets Terri’s Cafe apart is that I also blend my own spices and sauces which we cook in all of our food items. We cut fresh fries each day and use all-natural ingredients. What sets our burgers apart in the industry is that they are hand patted daily and infused with spinach and feta cheese and THAT is the “CRACK BURGER”, I’m most proud to be in an industry competing with beef burgers on a healthier level.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future of Terri’s Cafe is to add a food truck as well as move into a larger sit-down brick an mortar in an area that is more family-friendly and that will cater to the arts community. In 2020 we are launching a Terri’s House Blend seasoning line to be sold in stores across the world. WHAT IS A CRACK BURGER YOU ASKED???? Come on by so that we can prove to you that this is the BEST turkey burger you’ve ever had in your LIFE….WELCOME TO TERRI’S CAFE.
