Today we’d like to introduce you to Shirene Douglas.
Hi Shirene, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
CocoBaby Organics was born out of both love and loss. After welcoming my first child (the original coco baby), I spent sixteen years navigating unexplained secondary infertility. It was a long, emotional journey that ultimately ended with a hysterectomy in 2021. Closing the door on trying to conceive was incredibly difficult, but it also became a turning point.
Instead of letting that chapter end in silence, I decided to channel my energy into creating something meaningful, a brand that could bring joy to families, while also shining a light on the struggle so many face with infertility. That’s how CocoBaby Organics came to life.
From the start, we’ve been about more than just baby clothes. Our bright, bold, and organic pieces are designed to celebrate the little milestones that mean so much, while part of our mission is to give back by supporting infertility nonprofits that encouraged me when I needed it most.
Today, CocoBaby Organics is both a reflection of my personal journey and a way to encourage others: proof that beauty and purpose can grow from even the hardest seasons.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a challenging road. It’s one thing to have an idea or dream to open a store, but to execute with no experience in e-commerce created a steep learning curve. I did take a course with an e-commerce course with a coach and baby boutique owner that was very helpful. Additionally, I was a participant in the elevate program through the Village Market that helped me build the further build the business structures to help run efficiently.
As you know, we’re big fans of Cocobaby Organics . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At CocoBaby Organics, we offer baby clothing and essentials that are as safe as they are stylish. We specialize in bright, bold, and organic pieces designed to celebrate the little milestones that mean so much, whether it’s a cozy So Very Loved onesie, a playful alphabet sweater, or an elephant baby blanket/toy set.
What sets us apart is the heart behind the brand. CocoBaby Organics isn’t just about clothing; it’s about connection and purpose. Every detail of what we do is rooted in three core commitments.
First, we are dedicated to offering sustainable products. We carefully choose vendors that create products using organic fabrics and are eco-conscious so parents can feel confident that our products are gentle on babies and kind to the planet.
Second, we focus on joyful design. We believe that children’s clothing should reflect happiness and be bold, playful, and filled with color.
And finally, we are committed to mission-driven giving. A portion of every purchase helps support infertility nonprofits that uplift and encourage families who are navigating the same challenges that shaped my own journey.
What I’m most proud of is that CocoBaby Organics has grown into more than just a shop. It has become a community. Parents come to us not only to shop for high-quality clothing but also for the story and mission we stand for. Our brand is rooted in resilience, love, and celebration, and I want readers to know that when they support CocoBaby Organics, they’re helping us create joy for families while also supporting a greater cause.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We will be featured in the Village Market at Ponce City Market starting in late September / early October
