Today we’d like to introduce you to Sidney E Savage II.
Sidney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was at work one day at my dead-end job. I started to get sick of going nowhere fast.
Working hard just to make someone else rich and not myself. I had a deep thought of why am I not pursuing my aspirations and dreams? I then got a sheet of paper. I drew out my vision of a logo.
I then on my lunch break, went to a store called lids. I had a hat embroidered as close to my vision as possible. It was ok, but it wasn’t it. So a day later I decided to contact a graphic designer. He nailed it! At that moment, I became so full of energy and excitement!
The ambition that was catapulted within me was indescribable! It was on from there! I began to do some research as to obtain my domain name. I ran across a special for $0.99 to purchase savage2savage.com. I had literally $1.00 in my bank account at the time. I did it! I purchased savage2savage.com with literally my last dollar.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. but, I’m reminded that anything worthwhile doesn’t come easy. Lord knows it’s been some struggles. Some harder than others. From dealing with the recent homicide of my daughter’s mother by the hands of her fiance, and the effects it had on her, to the challenges involved as it relates to our family adjusting, to some very close friends and family openly doubting my aspirations, goals, and dreams.
Even some went as far as openly wishing for my failure. To my wife being involved in 2 car accidents within 2 months, to being evicted because of the resources we’ve depleted because of my daughters emergency transition due to her mother’s tragic death and because of the sacrifices my family and I made to build a legacy of our own. These are just some of the challenges. But, were yet blessed and still pushing forward.
Please tell us about Savage 2 Savage Clothing Company.
Well, the name is self-explanatory. We’re a clothing company. We specialize in designs of simplicity with an impact. We also integrated our brand with luxury Italian shoe fashion. I am most proud of using our platform to inform, educate, and celebrate survivors of domestic violence.
We’re doing this with our upcoming fashion show in Atlanta November 10, 2018! It’s called the pain to purpose fashion show! What sets us apart from others is our open and bold willingness to use our resources and network to empower and encourage those who need it. In our case, its survivors of domestic violence.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
There was a lagoon right next to an apartment building my family used to live at. Lakeshore Dunes apartments in Gary, (miller beach) Indiana.
During the winter, my buddy and I used to go out on that lagoon while it was frozen and act like we were ice skating. Then go to our favorite place right up the street called Uno’s pizza to get a slice of heaven! Those were the days!
