Today we’d like to introduce you to Simply Craig.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m from Atlanta by way of Chicago, I was always infatuated with music at a young age, I grew up in the church where my Great aunt played the piano and organ, and I would later start to play the drums and also join the youth choir. On weekends I was up late listening to the grown-ups play cards and listen to old music, which gave me an open ear to explore different sounds and voices. From there as I grew older I started to listen to different genres of music like pop, rock, country, reggae, dance and more which expanding my knowledge of production and vocal technique. I as a teenager I was very active in trying to figure out all I could about music, starting with creating songs. I didn’t have a producer so I started making my own beats, then singing and rapping on them.
Working on songs and beats everyday I began to perfect my craft and sound. Inspired by great artist and producers such as Static Major, Timberland, Mike Will made it, Prince, Michael Jackson Jamie Foxx Silk and many more, mixed with a little twist of rap I created a unique sound of R&B that’s for the ladies but the dudes can put it on to when there with there ladies. I am currently promoting my latest single Bust It. Which is available on all streaming platforms. Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but it has been an enjoyable ride. A lot of bumps in the road come from real-life situations that can distract you from the goal, budget issues that may not allow you to promote properly or some people not understanding me as an artist and the music, fortunately I’ve met some great people along the way and have been blessed to work with Shawty Lo (R.I.P) Future, Emmanuel and Phillip Hudson Manneken Fresh and many more.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a producer, songwriter, artist and creator. I specialize in production for artist hooks and more. I’m known for my beats my songs and my songwriter capabilities. I’m most proud of me staying true to who I am the fact that I keep an open mind and a love for the music and that I’m able to create inspired by so many sounds. I think what sets me apart from others is what sets us all apart from the way I think the process and create my sound. The way I make a song from scratch starting with the beat, then moving on to melody and words writing nothing down. I will create a verse and hook with additions harmonies that you would think is a group but one person, music with bounce and a different unique but yet familiar sound.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The best thing about my city is its the place where you can make your dreams come true if you know where to look. The film industry, along with the music industry, is booming, releasing a lot of dope talented artists from the city. A lot of black entrepreneurs with businesses also.
