Today we’d like to introduce you to Skely B.
Hi Skely, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started rapping when I was in the 8th grade. One of my classmates was a rapper and I thought if he could do it, I could too. It wouldn’t be until my freshman year of college that I would record my first song. After I figured out how to record and release more music, I just kept going. It wouldn’t be until my senior year of college that I would perform my first show. I knew from then on that this was my purpose. Not to be dramatic. I love making music and I thank God everyday for my talents. It’s only up from here.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, I’d say it’s been a smooth road. The hardest parts are definitely trying to find features and the motivation to work. I love collating with artists and there’s nobody I wouldn’t collab with but trying to find them is a hassle sometimes. Finding Motivation can be a hassle as well. With so much going on in my day to day life, it can be hard to find motivation to write. But I know that when I do find it, it’s over with.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think what sets me apart from others are the details I put into my music. I like to make my music deeper than other artists. Whether that be in the lyrics or the little details in the production. My inspiration is Lil Wayne. To me, he’s the best to ever do it and my push to keep going.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Well, I think The Bible is the obvious best answer. Before I do anything in life, I ask God for guidance, wisdom, and strength and not once has he disappointed me.
