Today we’d like to introduce you to Spirit Butterfly.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I believe people are destined to be who they are before their physical birth. I also believe that my journey started with my ancestors, as I am here to continue the legacy of innovation, inspiration, and illumination…
My story began in the Kingsbridge area of the borough, The Bronx, in New York. I traveled extensively as a child and went to four different high schools in three different states by the time I was 15.
I have been a professional dancer since the age of seven years old, yet hairstyling became very natural for me. I graduated three months earlier than my senior class in Ellenwood, Georgia with high honors, so I began working in top hair salons before I received my high-school diploma.
It was also during this time that I was introduced to Atlanta’s nightlife and music industry. I began modeling in hair shows and appeared on my first cover (hair) magazine at the age of 19, all while attending Clark Atlanta University as a Theater Arts major and Mass Media Communications minor.
I also began modeling in music videos for the biggest musical artists by the time I was 18, and at the same time, writing and recording music in Atlanta’s well-known music studios. I dropped out of college after my sophomore year to focus more on my music; traveling with various artists and entourages within the music industry as a mentee helped my personal development by understanding the business side of the music industry.
The knowledge I gained enabled me to sign talent (one exotic dancer and a rap duo group) to my entertainment company created and developed in Cleveland, Ohio by the time I was 21. I also went back to school (Georgia Perimeter College) during this particular time to take directing and playwright classes.
Within the last 10 years, I have managed to maintained a prominent yet professional presence within the health, fashion, music, and hair industries (respectively) by: fitness consulting and training personal clients, writing music for myself and other artists, producing talent showcases, and appearing (acting) in various movies and television shows. I have also created a workout clothing line that transitions into a unique outerwear called FARASHA KAA Apparel.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road that I chose hasn’t been the smoothest one, yet it has been one of fulfillment, compromise, uncertainty, joy, happiness, pleasure, and creative expression.
The path that I chose to embark was/is a path less trotted, and therefore, came with sharp turns, detours, traffic, potholes, and multiple traffic lights. Nonetheless, this road is a magnificent road because it allowed me to see and appreciate what I am capable of; my strengths, weaknesses, ambitions, motivations, and purpose in life.
I also enjoy the beautiful and exhilarating scenic routes, clear highways, and fresh pavements of my road as well!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have always had an entrepreneur spirit, so it was quite natural for me to develop a new business concept that promotes the healing aspects of Mother Nature.
FARASHA KAA (faw – rah – shaw – kaw), which literally translates as “Butterfly Spirit,” or “Spirit Butterfly” is an HOLISTIC WAY of LIFE that is comprised of a High-Quality apparel line, including an all-naturale and organic series of hair/skin/scalp DIGESTIBLE OILS, CHLOROPHYLL/Detox Juices, CRYSTALS, spiritually rejuvenating BATH SALTS, and hair conditioners for ultimate, excellent health!
I am so ecstatic to say that I am the first and only hair stylist (artist), and product developer, to create an editorial calendar that showcase creative hair and makeup artistry while promoting a unique fitness clothing line on women (Nubian-descendants of different ages and backgrounds) who are aspiring to be legendary in their fields of choice. I am also excited to be one of the first product developers whose hair, skin, and scalp oils are truly digestible!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
It feel that it may surprise most people to know that I am only 5″00 tall! Most people are shocked at my height when they meet me in person or when I stand up if I had been initially sitting down when they first met me.
I ALWAYS hear, “Wow, you are so petite!”
