Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Anderson.
Stacey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My husband Jim and I started the Alpharetta store in July 1998 so that he could come off the road, as he was a traveling salesman for Timberland. We opened with only 12 dealers and have grown into over 200 in the Alpharetta location, almost 200 in the Buford location (which opened in 2004) and over 165 in the Marietta location (which opened in its current location in 2012). Jim originally handled all daily operations, managing a different store each day of the week while Stacey handled all the financial and marketing aspects of the company. Jim has retired out of his daily involvement and supports Stacey with any needs required to run the stores smoothly.
The Queen of Hearts has branded herself as a shopping mecca for all things involving antiques and interior type merchandise. The shopping hours were extended to include Sundays and late hours on Thursdays until 8 pm. Each location is run by very competent managers and staff, allowing Stacey to work “on” the business instead of “in” the business. All dealer-merchants are vetted before allowing them to join the Queen team, as we look for people that want to start their own small business.
We partner with them to help them grow, even teaching them the tricks of the trade involving social media and promotions. We are confident anyone visiting the Queen of Hearts will find something that will enhance their homes.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The first five years was definitely a learning curve while operating the Alpharetta location. Over the years, many policies and procedures have been implemented to help onboard all our new dealer-merchants to make a smooth transition.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in antiques & interior type merchandise. Each dealer-merchant sets up their merchandise in a defined area, encouraged to “work” their space several times each week. We are proud of the fact that our stores are an “experience” … as you walk down each aisle (named for streets in Charleston, SC), perusing unique merchandise in each of the booths.
What were you like growing up?
I am the first born and wanted to be a teacher, setting up my chalkboard and keeping grade books for all my stuffed animals. I went to UGA and decided that science was my passion. While it still is, I did change my major to advertising/marketing, working in the advertising field for many years after graduation in 1980.
Beginning in 1988, I started my first company, Anderson, Barton, and Dalby, with two partners acting as printing brokers. This business continued for many years, evolving into Anderson Productions. When the Queen of Hearts in Alpharetta, turned five years old in 2003, I began devoting 100% of my time in this business.
I will say, that I’ve never met a stranger and totally enjoying being on the floor at any of locations, working with our customers to help them locate their needs and wants for their homes.

Hi Stacey, my name is Joyce Padgett, and Iam a knit and crochet designer on Youtube. I have bought many items from your sandy plains store and used some as display in my video tutorials. Last week I stopped in and ask if I could take some pictures as I shopped. My friends on Youtube want to know where I buy my display items, so My question is, can I share your website link on my Youtube Channel? I am at: J’s Knit and Purl Jam / Youtube. Thank you, smiles from J.
